I think JB is a seriously talented guitar player, and I just love the stuff he plays.

Lately, though, after listening to his records and live DVD's and interviews etc.. I find him really annoying when he talks and sings. I can't quite put my finger on it.
Its as though I can just about bare it, because I know an awesome lead break is coming up (with some of the best damn tone I have heard in a long time). The timing, the licks, the rests in between the notes (something he has got a lot better at)... its just wonderful and tasteful guitar playing. And then comes the rest of the song...

Am I the only one who feels this way?

I sold him a 1987XL around 2003 or so. I showed it to him at my shop and he came back and bought it the next day then used it on stage that night with his Jubilees. I think it might be in that pic, but who knows if that is it. He also used my Jubilee 2555 for when he played at the the music store I used to work at. Nice guy.

I want that Park head in a bad way. You can hear it in this clip.

That's a lot of the Jubilee in his tone. That's what makes up a BIG part of tone. I hear more jubilee in there than anything. There are the lower gain settings on the other amps to really add some clarity. But it's all good.

On a different note, he and his playing have really grown up a lot. He's definitely really starting to find HIS sound...and his voice...Especially on stage. His stage presence and singing live have really gotten tons better than what's in the clip IMHO.

Actually there's more Park in his tone that night. Usually it's the other way around. That's why I like this clip so much. Also I like it better dry than with all of the delay on the Jubilee. Regardless the guy's a monster.
Pretty amazing show. Great tone. Always impressed when they go into another song in the middle and come back and finish the ending of the song.

Wonder how all that smells?
I'd like to see Hetfield and Hammett's collection.

Yeah I can picture Joe and Slash kicking it at a gear fest/barbecue.

Joe goes "Saul, if you're gonna BBQ, put a fucking shirt on, For God's Sake. I don't want nipple hair in my burger. And tie your hair back or you're gonna be looking like Ghost Rider."

Now what the hell is Joe doing with an Ernie Ball Petrucci model?

I'd just like to hear him play Lay It Down. :D

Doesn't certain amp components go bad if the amp isn't played every so often...I wonder if the maint of all those amps is kept up. Otherwise, what's the point?

In his Royal Albert Hall DVD he plays it. I think in the interview it's a bartone. He plays it on John Henry.

Sounds good!

Hell yeah. I find different amps bring out more music from me. The feel of different tones/feel = another way I play/create on guitar. Sometimes just plugging into an amp helps get through a mental block.

I totally agree! Now if only I could get my wife to understand this truth!

haha i imagine him living in a studio apartment somewhere and thats all he spends his dough on. he's made it publicly clear that he doesnt want to have kids, but lets see if he follows through with that, and i dont think hes married, so why the fuck not.

I wouldn't doubt if most of the newer stuff was given to him. Not to mention, I have heard of vintage collectors giving stuff away or giving sick deals to hot players. I am sure he has still invested a huge chunk of change but playing guitar is his business and think of what some people invest in tools and equipment just to start a small business.

I hope his new band with the legendary Glenn Hughes on bass and Vocals, Jason Bonham on Drums, and Derek Sherinian on Keys is gonna be awesome!
