i don't know if my speakers are shot or if artists are just cranking the volume on their mixes to the max more and more, but my speakers are distorting more than usual when i listen to youtube videos these days...

that being said, i dig it.

It's cool. Seems a strange choice for him. When wild West guitars did their Grand opening years ago I won a raffle and John 5 gave me a guitar. he was a cool dude.

I think John 5 is a super talented player. I love his playing and think that there is pretty much nothing out there that he isn't capable of. That said, I made it most of the way through this, thought it was ok and have zero desire to hear it again. I would certainly not buy this disc because of it. I bought one of his discs, listened to it once and never again. I like a lot of the videos I see of him and love when he plays with people. I am not sure what it is. I think it is all of the unnecessary effects and gimmicks. I've seen him do the Tele into amp thing and he is just a friggin wizard, that all of this mulitrack beep beep effect nonsense is just lost on me.

Everyone and anyone doing this cover fails when they try to cover VH's solo... why? Because essentially this song or cover sucks without VH's solo. As such, nothing really original can ever be done cause VH killed it the first time around! :)

Well, it good and he's great but you can't compare it to the vibe and groove of the original MJ track.

Nice, what was it ?

It was a parker. Since I got it free I donated it to a friend's CD release party. They did some raffles and gave the $ to a charity. It was a lot of good for everyone.

Agreed. The original has such a strong groove. This version is almost copied identically BUT the sounds are more digital if that makes sense.

I mean its good and all but its no Fall Out boy with John Mayer playing the solo...

I thought it was pretty cool. Liked the original too.
But this one was of course recorded "guitar HEAVY" so thats the way it comes across.
