The best Mesa Boogie demo of a Mesa Boogie product. Ever. That so gave me GAS to get one whether I sell my Mark IV or not.

watching him play makes me wanna sell all my shit and take up tennis or something...ughhh

Not sure mere mortals could get that thing to sound like Dude does.

But it'd be fun to try!

on a side note: That goofy fiddle he plays nowadays is growing on me. That color scheme is badass!

Yep, that sounded great. I am not a Dream Theater fan at all honestly, but he is definitely a great player and I am actually pretty interested in his current sig guitars.

I have to admit I did the DT/JP fan-boy thing years ago. Sold off the EBMM guitars when I found Suhr. But his playing still makes me want to go buy whatever Mesa he's playing at the time. I do love his tone. The Majesty has not grown on me however. It does sound great though.

This demo sounds infinitely better than the Mark IIc+/Mark V IIc+ mode comparison one he did for Mesa from a month or two ago.

I really wish he would fix those damn ringing trem springs though (you could hear them in the IIc+/V demo too).

Christ, does that sound good. THIS may make me rethink my 'modded marshall' vein Im in.

I think to me that answers the question can it really get a mark tone in a small box .it's also amazingly tight and percussive for el84s

that amp is sounding better each time i hear a clip of it

Cool little amp for sure. Channel 1 crunch mode is where it really shines too. IF you get past the fact that channel 2 will never sound like the real amp it models, then you can find some good stuff in it. Gig wise, you can let the DI and the PA do all the work for you. But, if not using the Cab Clone, it will of course run out of headroom very quickly. Good for noodling around with headphones too.

Makes me miss my Mk IVs i used to own. Should have never sold the first one

The video clarified for me that they took the Crunch mode from Channel 2 of the Mark V and put it into the 1st channel of this amp. I know ultimately, it may get annoying to have to share your clean channel with the crunch but if someone could make a footswitch that would put that on the floor you'd be golden.

And all you need to fix the spring noise is clear tubing, like the kind you would use for a fish tank. Cut the tube to about the same length as the spring and slide the tube inside the spring, totally kills the poing noise.

Oh I know how to fix it (most just put some kind of foam around the springs, while others put pieces of drinking straws inside them, which is the poor man's method of what you suggested), I just can't figure out why Petrucci apparently either can't hear that or doesn't care.
