A few different varieties on the clips. All with volume roll off on the guitar and switching pick ups. It doesn't have the balls of the Cameron Aldrich, but it retains more Marshall tone, a little more compressed and scooped for the 80's period correct tone. I really didn't plan on what to play, so overlook the muck-ups :D

I will do the Martin Golub next and the Cameron mods again with something a little more tame than the one's I posted earlier on the Cameron thread.

Compressed and chewy! Very nice Steve. Thanks for the clips.

It's cool...

Sounded a little like the Runaways! :D

I'm not thrilled with like I was with the CAMDRICH Though...

You pull out some songs that have never been demo'd here, I will give you that

Local H

Sounds great but my fav so far is in my sig :D

Love your clips. This was my least favorite of the bunch.
Not your playing but the amps overall tone.
Tell me this, what volume were you running this amp at when you made the clip ? I was always told John's Marshall mods sounded best Dimed. Loud as Hell.
My take on this clip is, the amp has a bright tone.... Yes,
but the compression is keeping it in check. Makes it sorta up front.........
but subdued sounding to me IMHO....
Trying to figure if that is the volume the amp was on... :aww:
IE: Not pushed enough or this is just the way the amp sounds ?.... Great song choices.

Does the Suhr or Golub Aldrich mods have depth pots?

The Suhr has the Whomp II switch, but no pot. The Golub doesn't have any such beast.

Hold that thought until we do the last one.

I wonder if adding one to the Golub would give it an extra kick. ;) They are very simple to add...

Definitely. It is a prerequisite for me now - both bottom or bass boost and resonance/frequency control.......

Sometimes, I find just a simple NFB depth control to add more tone suck than anything. When couple with a cut control though, it really adds to the possibilities for better sculpting your tone....if that makes sense.

you can do a fixed value cap and resistor to so you dont have to modify the amp or circuit any further... try a .0047 and put a pot in place of the resistor to dial it in, then replace with resistor value you dig the most after measuring with a multimeter the sweet spot reading off the pot.

Thats some Bad-ass toan, fat & thick with a real nice top-end, nice job. :2thumbsup: :2thumbsup: :2thumbsup:

The Whomp and Whomp II are not a typical Depth mod and I like the results much better.
Steve, have you tried the OD100se+? Similar tone goal I would think. Smooth solos and chunky rhythms.

Cool clips. Everytime I see these MarkII heads I kick my ass for getting rid of mine in the 80's. Back then they were a dime a dozen...duh on me.

I didn't try that one yet, threatened a time or two, but none ever came up for sale. John does good work and would give one a go if the right one came up with the Plexi trannies and the SE+ circuit.
