The last time I saw him in 2003 he was using his Jose modded 800 and a guitar cable. That was it. I don't remember him using a wah but there might have been one. He just backed his volume knob down a bit during the rhythm parts and cranked it for solos. It was siiiiiiiick. I stood right up front the entire show. There were only like 75 people there, tops. Got to meet him and talk quite a bit after the show. Super cool guy and liked to talk gear.

Hmmm. Dude, you're totally right. It wasn't the wah. It was the A/B box to switch over to the JC-120's for the clean sound on a couple songs. Sorry, I take it back.

Anyway... it was for the John Sykes Bad Boy Live! record.

I wasn't trying to bust you, man! Just remembering what I saw him use. I am sure it changes a bit from year to year.

I remember that Concert in Denver (84), What a great year to see alot of players emerge! Yngwie, Viv Campbell, DiMartini! Granted many were already popular in L.A but playing major venues across the U.S was great! John Broke out the red strat at the end encore for a new song, " Crying in the rain" set to be released on the next album!! COZY rocked!!

Man, Sykes is huge in Japan. I was buying a guitar in a guitar store in Tokyo a couple weeks ago and the second Blue Murder cd was playing through the PA in the store. Also, I saw a ton of Edwards JS Les Pauls. Seems about every store that carried Edwards had at least one if not more. I even saw 3 or 4 Gibson Sykes LPCs over there.

Look's like Sykes had been checking out Gary Moore a lot back then. GM used the same color strat a lot around this time and the intro playing is very GM.

Not like Moore didn't bitch about it plenty in interviews...about Sykes and Campbell.

To me though, Coverdale always fucked Sykes on mixes. Look at 1987 Whitesnake....John's leads were way back in the mix on Still of the Night. He always had the keys too loud that fucker. Coverdale should remix that shit, or send it to me and let me have a go at mixdown. Snakey son of a Bitch! No one puts Sykes in the corner!
