I'm pretty sure "Girls" was when Mick first switched to Soldanos for a while. Also, Richard Fortus now owns Micks favorite Marshall he recorded with the most. This guy is full of shit.

SLO's didn't come onto the scene until '88. Mike sold one to Howard Leese in L.A. before moving back to Seattle in 12/87. The album was already in the can in the beginning of '87, so no SLO.

However, you are correct on the other point- The guy is full of shit.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Micks tone on that album was always my favorite, but it didn't sound anything like an SLO to me despite reading that somewhere... If it was all Marshall, I'd kill to play that amp!

In regards to Mick's amp comment: Well, regardless what you tell me or read or heard, I bought it from a pawn shop where Mick happened to dump a ton of his gear... How do I know this claim to be true?
20010-12ish? Got in touch with him at the Verizon wireless ampitheatre... super humble guy, offered it back to him as he told me when he was hard up he sold tons of gear he wishes he didn't. Now, I'm sure everyone here will piss moan and cry... bs lies etc... that amp isn't for sale, it's literally the best sounding amp I've played... Can't do blues, jazz, heavy metal but man it's amazing for what it is.

In regards to the validity of my claim, the amp was modified in 1981, I believe it to be modified by Jose for several reasons:

This isn't some little kid show asking for gut shots. There are guys on here that know Jose's work better than you. What do you have to lose to post gut shots. The guy's dead and his Daughter could care less. Excuse people for questioning your 68 Major's mod authenticity. He never mentioned who he was until I denied at which point he told me he was interested in buying the amplifier. As soon as I got his number (from him) I called him immediately and explained if I knew it was him I would have responded differently.

Sending gut shots to him I'm not oppose to however again, my intent isn't to protect Jose's family etc. Bottom line is, I had to pay good money for the amplifier. Why should someone else get that information for free? Seriously, how is that shady?

I've had mine since I was 13. It was modded in '82-'83 before I had it. There was already a few guys in the neighborhood at that time that could work on amps.

Get that info for free?? What is it that you think you're protecting?? The Jose A mod is all over the net posted by guys who have a legitimate AARCO amp. That would be the telltale sticker on the back of some of the legitimate Jose A modded Marshalls. The only thing you're protecting is your ability not to sell it. Because if its real, its sold.

No one in their right mind would not go to great lengths to have the amp validated by those that are able to do so as the amp is worth much more than you are asking. You are aware of this. There's an amp builder on here who would know with one look. You may find a sucker out there but I can guarantee you it will not be on here. Your words and manner only further point to the amp not being genuine.

I don't see why you'd get more. And if Jose doesn't matter to the price of the auction, why mention him at all, when you don't have one reputable amp maker who knows the guy's work saying it is indeed a Jose? You could solve this in an instant by providing Mike, or myself gut shots...

I've posted my responses to you here. I never "blasted" you, I was always respectful. I didn't even realize that number was a phone number until you mentioned it because of the format, or I never would have posted it. BTW - you are not supposed to provide a phone number or personal email to discuss eBay auctions. You knew that though, right - because you changed the phone number format so that eBay's software wouldn't pick it up, which is why I missed that it was indeed a phone number and posted it in the first place.
