Jose modded Steve Vai Marshall

I posted this in the tech forum, but thought it might get more action here.

Does anyone have any information on the mods in this amp? I'm about to start a 50w Plexi build, and I'd love to incorporate these into it. Schematic? Layout?

 
You and every other person that wants a modded Marshall. You can try asking Dave, but I doubt a famous artist wants his amp cloned making its value worth less.

Honestly your best bet is to get it working and then send it to Eddy Cruz to mod. He’s gotten the closest IMO.

If they wanted it public they would have posted schematics. The features described in the video outline topologically what the schematic would at least look like - gain stage in front of a stock plexi circuit likely cascaded and dual masters both pre and post tonestack. You’ll have to do research to find general Jose values but in the end you’re up a steep complicated battle of tuning the manual way just like everyone else.

Can't remember if it was that one but at least some of the ones with both pre and post tone stack Masters had a hard to find switch to switch the MVs.

Also check Ossi's video where he takes you thru his Jose. But IIRC he gets some values wrong.

 
Also, Ceriatone has a few amps based on different Jose mods. The Yeti and Chupa are I believe. There are layouts on the site just to get an idea of the values and such.

It’s pretty useless now tbh, that forum was never the same after recovering from the hack on the servers. There’s nuggets of information over there worthwhile but the hard part is finding enough information that doesn’t lead you down a dead end of wasted time on the “this doesn’t sound right” part of things.

There’s some info in that thread about the mods such as:
“The two changes on the board made it an early year stock plexi, tube added with the arrangement they talked about in the vid with a pre tonestack Jose master, Bright cap was 4700pf and .68 on the pres circuit” but I didn’t re-read the whole thread.
