The guys in my band did the backing track for me. My drummer did the vocals, drums and keys and engineered. He does a scary Steve Perry impersonation :) My bass player Don Lecompte added the bass track.

There is NO guitar on the backing track...I recorded the guitar as I shot the video.
Using a Gibson LP because the track is in 440hz tuning, my Suhr is a half step flat, so I couldn't use it for this.

I am running the OD100se+ into a HotPlate--Duet--Logic--Redwirez IR's. Silent recording.

I hope you guys enjoy this guys voice..it's killer!!

Mark

I did enjoy it, but I always feel like I should be paying a cover charge to watch your videos. Thanks for making it look so easy?

HOLY SHIT !!! those vocalsS!!!!!

another awsome video mark

love it

Very nice Mark! Awesome tone. Do I see you using EMG's again? What version amp do you have and what do you think of the PT?

Thanks Jason. It's a Duncan AHB1 in the bridge and a Sustainiac in the neck. The head is an OD10se+. I love the PT100. Same clean channel, just as much gain on CH2 and more open and raw. I wouldn't have an issue owning either or..wicked amps!

Mark

Yeah I am trying to decide which version to get so any input is great and thank you! How do you think your amp compares to others you've tried/owned?

If you want Marshally openess..PT, more modern and searing singing leads..OD100se+...yes you can still get those types of leads with the PT100 too.

How does the OD100se+ compare to other amps I've owned...it doesn't compare.
Since owning my SE+ there have been two amps that have haunted me since trying them: the PT100 and the Herbert. Not enough to make me sell my Se+ and get them though. Since I got my Koko Boost I'm not even haunted anymore..lol.

Mark, that was just plain awesome. This is coming from a big Journey fan!
Great job as usual.

Thanks alot! Yes we did this song live and many other Journey tunes. We used to do a Journey tribute but Roy preferred being behind the kit :(
To be honest we could never find a drummer that was as good as him...in our first band in the early 80's he would teach me all the guitar solos. A really talented dude!
In the studio he is a killer engineer.

Seems like there's at least one in every great & successful band ....

Samhill Band was lucky enough to have "at least" TWO ( you and Roy )

Sounds great and you make it look so easy

I gotta get an Apogee soon

one of my faves from you yet man-

the real amp thing....i ran my carol ann rig last time i played live and there was a feel factor i have yet to find in the axe. the axe does a million effects colors and moods which my tube rig cannot do. i still love what it is capable of in terms of effects. a refrigerator rack and a pedalboard shrunk down to two spaces.

but the tube rig behaves very dynamically and is more familiar to my hands and what i expect my rig to do.

that singer's performance was KILLER.

mentoneman, in your opinion, as a former triaxis user, does the axe fx match the triaxis in terms of feel?

If it can at least do the pre amp thing convincingly, then I'm really looking forward to getting one

Mark-
singer is amazing
and guitar =

I really don't like Journey, but you guys nailed it.

A question, how are you using the IR's? Some kind of software or is it used just in Logic some kind of way. I used to do a similar thing with the J-Stations cab models. But i just plugged the Hotplate line out into it using my amp head as a "model".

i'd definitely prefer the axe-fx over the triaxis as a preamp

there may be a taste more natural tube compression so the feel may be more tube like in the tri but the precision of dialing in tones and arsenal of effects gives the axe the major edge.

you have to look at it as a world class multi fx unit with added benefit of a slew of boutique amp models. it's too hard to verbalize everything it does. but i've never found myself wishing it had something else, except for the elusive tube amp magic.

First of all...thanks dude!

I bring the fuzzy yucky line out of the HP to my Duet and an input strip in Logic. I insert a plugin called Space Designer (included with Logic) and I bring in a Redwirez IR into SD and bingo instant cab of my choice. There are a few things you have to setup in SD but there are easy step by step instructions on the Redwirez site.
