Not ONE once of fault in that logic!

Now, your opinion of each?

Stryper show was amazing! crowd loved us always a good thing being we are heavy as hell...

XXX2 - so i jammed on it loaded w the el34s... very cool, crunch ch was like a big fat modded marshall ish type tone, very raw, lead ch was excellent more stream lined liquid feel to it.. fat switch on crunch ch is good fat switch on lead ch no good, it puts a funny low end response on the chords, kinda like it delays it sorta???? anyone?

XXX2 - w 6L6 tubes, so i swapped em out rebias, big difference... crunch ch really less british flavor now, strong tight low end to it cuts like a mofo... lead ch is fkn nasty ! the attack is amazing on the strings, harmonics and leads are effortless.

6505+ - its just fkn Brutal ! its bigger n nastier than the xxx, but not to say the XXX is a slouch, 6505+ is just devastating...
might track XXX2 n 6505+ in studio w a lil HERBERT!

but the fat switch on lead still has a funny feel to it i changed out pres also 6L6 or EL34s still same thing weird response w it on?

Congrats on the cool gig! Look forward to your Peavey clips

So awesome dude. I have the same two and I wouldn't want just one after owning both. You may decide on one over the other over time though. Most do.
I know my 6505 is a badass mutherfucker and love it, But I played my JSXthe other day and it killed! Soo tight and chunky.

I like the 6505 because I really only use one sound with it, so want the least amount of options and channels. Some say the 6505 is somehow more raw and aggressive sounding that the plus. Not sure if there is circuitry changes there.
But I haven't spent enough time with the plus to say.
Except, thne 6505 combo's always sound incredibly brutal. So maybe there is something to it...

I prefer the original XXX to the JSX, 5150, 5152, 6505 etc...I thought Satriani had them make the amp worse for him. ymmv

Good question. Been thru a lot of amps n no matter what when I hook into a peavey they just play easy. Leads are effortless ...rhythms are chunky n fat, like when u want to pull a harmonic it's there. Only other amps I get this w are Herbert n EVH.

The Peavey 3120 is another badass amp. I think it's the Triple XXX just renamed. Peavey makes some great amps and my 6505+ sounds just as awesome as my Bogner and EVH. My drummer still likes the 6505+ more than my other amps.

I have an EVH n the 6505+ is way more brutal n thicker sounding. However the XXX2 I'm really digging as well the 6L6 tubes make a big diff in it.

Do u feel anything weird w the fat switch on the lead ch?
I don't use it because the lead is thick and the resonance gets you more lowend. Th fat switch fattens the preamp too much, causing a strange feel. Like your pick doesn't dig in as fast and the response struggles, like a fat kid running a quarter mile.

Excactly wtf why does it do that. Works great on crunch ch. no fat kid there?

Thank the lord there is another person who prefers the XXX/JSX/3120/XXXII with 6L6s!

Just more OOMPH to the tone and really opens the amp up when there are 6L6s in 'em. About the only EL34 tubes that sound good in that line are 6ca7s or the Ruby 34 STRs. But even those don't compare to a quality 6L6.

Congrats on a great gig too!

Sweet.

We are playing tomorrow night with Stryper here north of Detroit. Well, not exactly with them.... We're playing the club across the parking lot from theirs, so either we'll play to empty seats, or we'll get all the fans who leave there after the opening act :D

They were awesome to us. Played to a great crowd.

Another note the 34s weren't shit by any means.
