I just bought an old (1987) Charvel model 6 with a JT-6 Trem. It is missing the whammy bar. Does anyone know what size bar I need to buy? It is the push in type. Can I use a Floyd Rose bar?

Thanks,

Mike

Don't think anyone makes a push in replacement anymore for the JT-6 but Dave at fretsonthenet.com makes a conversion kit that allows you to use a regular Floyd bar. He has a ton of custom/replacement parts for old Charvels (click the Import Charvel link & scroll towards the bottom). Great workmanship & service!

I had to buy an Ibanez bar for one of my Charvels. They fit perfect.

Thanks, I'll try the Ibanez bar Monday when I get the guitar. If not I can buy the parts from fretsonthenet.com and convert it.

One thing to keep in mind if you are concerned with getting the era-correct look...the Ibanez trem arm will be black whereas the original JT-6 came with a polished steel arm.
