Who here has had this mod done by John Tokarski and what’s your take before and after?

I just got mine back and good lawd it’s a beast. So crunchy, fast with a big tight bottom end. Way more usable range of gain. Even raw mode is incredible and so classic sounding. Clean channel with normal settings is quite dark sounding so you have to roll back the bass some to bring back the shimmer. Such a great mod. I did a super quick demo but my dog was being annoying.

You're exactly right. Make no mistake it does still have the recto vibe DNA no doubt but it has a tighter low end, quick attack, and more mids overall. This is my multi-watt head and debated doing it but glad I did. It's not a drastically different amp but sounds more like the original recto with the attack of a Badlander.

Dig that. I’d like to hear some drop tuned sludge if you have that capability, sir!

Nice! Congrats! Sounds a LOT like my Triple F Red/Modern after I did some C mods to it. I changed both gain pots, Red Presence pot and jumped 3 resistors and bypassed 1 LDR. Huge improvement on the Red making it more Marshall-like while leaving the Orange a bit more organic/open but still able to get the Recto wall of sound.
Rectos are great amps, especially modded!
?

Sounds great. Does it still take boosts well even though the mod tightened it up?

Yes, for sure with the SD1, OD9 and OCD….but the extreme EQ curve of the Fortin 33 and Grind in my opinion, thins it out too much with this mod. Those seem to work better with the RevG design.
