Did a deal on this facebook group and got screwed. Facebook (Meta) pay will not support you if a deal goes south why? Because you agreed to pay for whatever it was you bought. (Isn't that kinda how it works?) Anyways..do not use Facebook pay or meta or whatever the hell it is to pay for anything on there.

Hi Kurt,

Thanks for contacting us.

We're sorry to hear you sent money to someone and didn't receive what you paid for. Whenever someone uses your payment method without your permission, we may offer you a refund. Unfortunately, because you agreed to send the money for this payment, we won't be able to issue you a refund. However, you can report this case to your local law enforcement if you'd like.

We understand it's frustrating to have someone take your money. To make sure it doesn't happen again, we recommend watching out for the following when sending people money on Facebook:

- People asking you for money who you don’t know in person
- Deals that seem too good to be true
- People asking you for advance fees in order to receive a loan, prize or other winnings
- People asking you to move your conversation off of Facebook (ex: a separate email address)
- People claiming to be a friend or relative in an emergency
- Poor spelling and grammatical mistakes

Yep, I got scammed for $40 on a pedal.

Ever since then I only use PayPal with a Credit Card for any and all transactions. Screw Facebook and if anyone ever asks you to use Facebook pay and refuses to accept alternate methods of payment they are 100% a scammer.

link us this fucking clown. Where is he local to?
So FB is claiming that it is a civil matter, but THEY seem to have facilitated the payment, so they should help rectify the problem.

The guy might not even be the same guy that is named, or might be the guy, but in a totally different state, province, or country.

Online deals are starting to suck........

Out of curiosity, how does that payment system work? Is it drafted from a credit card, or a bank account? If so, maybe the CC company or bank could help reversing the payment......

The outfit is called "Meta" which is basically Facebook's pay site. The seller sends you an invoice you pay it and done! But again...Not safe so..be very aware

Wasn't a guy calling himself "Jesse York" was it?
Honestly couldn't tell you, it was a while ago.

But I can say that there is a guy going by Shawn Gunnoe in the Schecter exchange group, HMAP and probably all the other groups who is trying to scam. I paid for a KM7, started getting some bad vibes as soon as the payment was sent by his change of character so I started digging.

Never got the guitar but since I used paypal I was able to get a refund after a couple of weeks.

I just searched him, he has me blocked but I found a group named victims of Shawn Gunnoe haha. There are people posting as recent as 6 hours ago so he is still actively scamming people. Beware of that guy.

That's absurd. People complain that PayPal is too buyer friendly; I guess this swings completely the other way.

TL;DR there are no guarantees ever. The best thing to do is protect yourself. Use paypal instead of zelle, venmoe, meta or whatever other BS is out there and use a credit card as the form of payment if you are able to.

After my incident I called paypal and this is what they said. Its unbelievable. Apologies in advance for the dragged out post.

I called PayPal immediately because I knew within minutes I just got scammed, paypal will not cancel a transaction.

They of course open the case and wait for seller to provide tracking. I asked well, what if they do provide tracking and send me something different? Their response was that they call the post office and open an investigation. They will ask usps or ups or whoever if the item matches the description. Meaning is the box measurements and weight similar to a guitar, if it is you're sol buddy....he could have sent a guitar box with 8 pounds of fuck you and I'd have been screwed with paypal then left to dispute with my bank or credit card.

Edit: actually looking at the group now and he actually did it. Someone in the group received a box with nutella as the item instead of his gear that he paid for.

At least they were nice enough to explain how payment stuff works, you know, to a first time buyer and all...

BTW - fuck that kook, out him here and for sure we‘ll follow up with him on FB

Good god!!! There is even a group formed as the victims of this shit bag!!!! Whoa!!!!!

Scammers are truly the lowest form of life. The YouTube scam buster channels have some good stuff. I love seeing those scammers get utterly destroyed.
