Should be here monday. Got a pretty good deal on it, that's why I'm selling my racktifier and my stiletto. :)

Anyone else have one? Messed with one at GC and it was pretty sweet, will probably end up modding mine a bit. I prefer the tone of the 2 channel rackmount recto I own, but two extra channels and a solo boost make up for a lot, at least for gigging. If I was just using one or two channels and didn't need the boost, the rackmount still rules the roost.

The Roadster I played I enjoyed it ALOT and I think I would pick that over the MK V since I already have the IV.

I really dug the one I checked out... Having a fendery channel, marshally channel, and then a modern and vintage recto channel, plus reverb on each, plus being able to set rectification on each, and 50 or 100 watts on each, and a solo boost for leads...

One thing I may do is put a pair of yellowjackets in, so I can go from 15 or so watts to 65 or so. I bet the 6L6s would 'swamp out' the EL84s in combined mode, but it would be nice to have the option per channel to run low wattage like that. I bet with the spongy switch it would be around 10 and 35...

Look forward to your thoughts in it.....that's pretty much the only amp I've considered owning alongside my MTS stuff.....'course then I'd need a Mesa 2x12 again (killer cab with my early 2ch DR) :D

Gimme a call when you've worked out how to fit a tube rectifier and spongy into the MTS...LOL ;)

The pee my pants effect of a big power chord into the 2ch DR is awesomeness and most people have said the Roadster is the closest they've heard to that.

i owned a roaster for about 18 months and i loved it, i wish i still had it actually, of all the rectifers ive owned it was my fav.

So how does the Roadster compare to the Roadking? Are they similar?

King has more features... I found a really good price on one so I jumped. I think the King has 2 fx loops that you can assign by channel and has that 'progressive linkage' thing where you can combine different sets of 6L6s and EL34s per channel. Pretty groovy stuff.

JKD - I can already put a spongy switch in an MTS amp, that's going to be one of the first mods I detail on the mts board :)

Killer head man I have a Roadster and I can cop a lot of tones with one box.
edit: I should also state that this is not my photo but my head looks very much like this one!

OOOooo Nice!!

Sweet, I thought they were all half leather on the front. Custom order or did you just replace it yourself?

Awesome Pete......good score.......I had one for about 6 months...great amps.......struck me as a tad more refined than the Dual and Single Rectos I had. The loop is better and the 50 watt switch is great for home jamming. I also preferred it with the 6L6's over the 34's which was a first for me. I could own another and not cry about it easily...

Pete,

I have owned 3 different Roadsters. The tone of those amps kills. Unfortunately, each of those three had issues with the loop. I just returned the 3rd one to GC about 2 weeks ago. The loop could not be shut off on channel 2 unless you switched it off on the back of the amp. A minor issue, but it bugged the crap out of me.

Those amps sure sound good, though.

I'm serious :D

While at a re-cert school in Chicago 3 of us went to a GC and jammed for about an hour and I stayed on that Roadster the whole time, I really liked it! I am sure the MK V is really good but happy enough with the IV

I think he did that and posted it some time ago.

Fritz, that's a bummer. I think the first thing I'm going to do is check the loop when it gets here. :)

What are you playing through now?

Interesting about the loop issue.......I only meant that the loop sounded better.....hasn't the ability to go 100% serial been corrected with the RK/Roadster?

That was ordered after the stock purchase through mesa.

Just to clarify; all of the problems I had were with the loop SWITCHING. The series loop sounded great and worked well with both line and guitar level effects.

I exchanged the Roadster for a Tremoverb 2x12 (and $$). This is my second T-Verb and it is a gem. The loop has been modded to series and it is loaded with Mullard and Telefunken 12ax7s. I use clean on the orange channel and MHG on the red with an OCD for a clean boost. I love this amp.
