Just FYI: VFE Klein Bottle kinda like 3 Standouts

Just an FYI, I was horsing around with a VFE Klein Bottle (pedal mixer), and it can be used like a Standout. Each channel has HPF and LPF and send/return levels. There's an overall master level and dry blend. You just need to jump each channel's send and return jacks and boost away. One could be a rhythm boost and another a lead boost. Or one wide but low level boost and another narrow but high level boost etc.

Not the cheapest pedal, but neither is the Standout at this point, and Klein Bottles maybe are easier to find.

I have only seen one. Peter showed me one of the early made.

It's a cool pedal. I bought one when I thought I wanted a bass pedal board with complex switching to run dirt pedals in parallel with each other and a dry blend to preserve the low end, applying the dirt only to certain frequency bands etc. The Klein Bottle really is a pretty neat piece of gear. Ultimately, I just prefer a simpler approach and haven't been using it.

But on a lark tried it with a 2204 as a boost and it sounded like the Standout. The HPF/LPF on the Klein Bottle have more range, I think, so I needed to adjust them differently than I did with the Standout, but that's not really a bad thing.

Might be a little much, but can you throw boosts in it and use the hi/lo to tailor the boost frequencies?

Yes.

You can also use multiple boosts and blend them together for different sounds.

Nice, are you using a Klein bottle as well?

I’ve always wanted one, but didn’t want to spend the $$$.

Would it be vastly better than a Suhr Koko boost when utilized like this? I realize that the VFE is much more versatile, allowing a person to dial it in to taste. But does it end up being much different than where the Suhr is set?

I've never played a Kiki Boost. I just know a lot of folks like the Standout. I had some and also this Klein Bottle, so I thought I'd point out a maybe not-obvious use of it for fans of the Standout.
