Did you get it from the dude I referred you to?

no, never got message from you? been having issues with rig talk messages.

I am not liking the VH4, used to have one with kt88s, this one has el34s. I am super picky about things, the amp sounds great, no doubt about it, but the feel is what gets me. I have some mcp black irons that sound great also, but they feel odd to me. I have an idea in my head, the way things feel like fretboard, pickups, amp, etc. if it is not how I like or am used to, I usually part ways with the gear, so you will see it shortly in the classifieds!!!

Sorry you don't like it. Love mine! Sure have been a boatload of New VH4 Days lately.

one things for sure, these can achieve an absolutely incredible amount of bass!!!

Boost it with an 808 pretty hard before you decide to flip it. It makes a huge difference in the feel. The VH4, like Mesa Rectifiers, comes alive with a boost in my opinion.

I can honestly say I've never heard of a VH4 with 88s in it. 6550s yes. 88s, no.

I'd be mucking around with the glass before making a final decision - but yes, the lowend on Diezels is fantastic (I still prefer the thump of the Uberschall/TJ personally, but whatever, bass doesn't get recorded, it just comes out in live settings to party :D )

Good luck with it,
Mo

Glass makes all of the difference. Retube + hit the front end

tried boosting with cusack screamer, and it felt a little better, but still not what I am looking for. I am sure you guys assume I am insane, but I assure you I am not, well, maybe a little picky though. just to set in my ways though. I have it up for trade in classifieds, but I am still going to play for a few more hours.

might have jumped to conclusions, boosting channel 3, gain is at 10 ovlock, treble at 2 oclock, mids at 2 oclock, bass at 10 oclock, deep at 10 oclock and presence at noon, the cusack screamers level is at2 oclock, tone at noon, and gain at 10 oclock. sounds great and getting used to feel a bit more.

IMHO.....Throw in Winged C EL34's and bias her a little hot and throw a KoKo Boost on the front and I guarantee you she will be staying home in the barn  ! To note, Celestion V30's and 75's in an x pattern will make a world of difference as well. Again.... !

that amp is not made for 88's. you need to roll some glass first. open it up and run it with the master and channel masters around 10:00. fwiw, i never felt the need to boost the front end with anything but a guitar pick.
