Wow!

It is so brutal sounding, I love it. Never had much luck makin' records with the newer 3 channel guys for whatever reason. I was always one of those guys who as a producer just couldn't get boogies right but this 2 channel; I just re-tubed it, plug it in, throw up a 57/421 combo, plugged them into a 1073/API312, phased them and voila' THE SOUND!!! The tone is impeccable and the more I turn the gain up the better it sounds, no squirrely top end artifacts, just pure tone. I'm also shocked at the power and pure force it has. Boogies sometimes sound cold to me but not this one. I am so excited I feel like I finally over came something that has stumped me for years.

GREAT AMP! ;)

I had one of the first 500 Dual Rectifiers. The "holy grail" ones supposedly. I didn't dig it all for recording, though I am not as experienced as you in that realm. I do have a vintage API mic pre though

So you may have found one of the good ones. I just couldn't get rid of that grainy, fizzy buzz in the distortion. Others love them but I just can't stand the things. Than I listen to Dogman by Kings X and think maybe I should give one another chance.

You have all of the tones covered in that stack

That '71 Super Trem is making me think my '70 needs a brother.

I found that on the Rectos, and a lot of Boogies, the presence needs to be set very low. Not sure if you ever ran it like that. Even on the IIC+ amps, if you turn the presence up to as little as 4 or 5 the top end just comes screaming in and you have a fizzy mess.

Ive never had a problem getting a boogie to sound good until the Rectos came out, so I feel your pain!! My friend had an old 2 channel recto and I still didn't dig it. I went into a studio recently and decided to plug into one of the rectos they had and it flat out KILLED. Id be willing to bet that it's luck of the draw and you finally got a killer sounding one....well theres that and maybe the bias drifts on them because of the fixed bias. I agree with danny about keeping the presence low!! If you have it up 2 high on some of the boogies, the sound can take your face off lol

By the way, were you on Chelsea lately? I caught a bit on youtube with her trying to sing and laughed my ass off and I was wondering if that was you!

All the best!

The "Racktos" are still a bit different than the first 500 batch. Not sure if they're part of the first 500 but the boards and wiring are different inside the Rack versions. I think these are known to be the tightest of them all.

I hear ya. I got an old school two channel triple with the chrome chassis. Looks killer. Sounds killer. Talk about grind, even with the 5751 I have in V1.

i have one of these too and mine sounds sick! congrats on the new amp

I very much like my Tremoverb.
I do not use the presence above 9 o'clock much.

 Always glad to hear of someone finding a tone they like.

I have a chrome chassis rackto too. Mine is sn 800 sumthin'. I'm totally digging it. Built a rack with g-major and GCP so I have instant access to eq / boost / ch select / mute / rev / delay / chorus / bypass. Sounds really mean and huge. I also have a uber and cameron marshall, but Ive been playing this since I got it non stop.

I'm in the rackto club too, had to mod mine to get rid of the damned parallel loop but after that it's all good. :)

does the mod make it easier to use rack effects or rack EQ's?
