This amp is that sound I've been looking for all of my life.
It is 20w of perfection.
I can't find a bad tone in this amp.
It has a ton of gain on tap.
When I first turned it on I thought the SAT switch was on it had so much gain, but it wasn't even engaged.
Engaging the SAT switch was great.
Then I pulled the gain knob out on Channel 2, amazing, there was more.
Channel 1 - the plexi channel is amazing as well.
Great gritty cleans and that plexi crunch.
Channel 2 is just pure gain perfection.
I don't think a boost pedal is needed with this amp.
There is a 3 way boost setting on the amp, I need to read up on it, I can't tell which way is more or less, this amp just brings it all to the table.
After wiping the big smile off my face I decided to try out my other 3 Friedmans to compare, sorry no video.
The Pink Taco V2 is a close 2nd, but I give the win to the JEL-20 for having 2 separate channels making it more versatile.
The Little Sister combo is a close 3rd, just needs a little more gain to be with the other two, but it has enough on tap to satisfy almost anyone.
Any of these 3 amps can get by without a boost, definitely the JEL-20, IMO it has the most gain out of the 3, followed closely by the Pink Taco.
I started pumping out hair metal riffs I didn't know I had in me until I fired up the JEL-20, then I ran them though the Pink Taco V2 and the Little Sister and they came very close, but the JEL-20 is for sure my favorite.
After those 3 I tried to use the JJ Junior combo, it just is too modern sounding for my style so I don't see it staying around long.
Now i need another 1x12 cabinet for my JEL-20, it looks great with my Friedman PT112 cab in Black, so now i need to decide if I want the matching red JEL 1x12 or another Black PT112.
I am one happy guy right now!
I will snap a few pics later and add to this post.
