So I live in an apartment on the top floor now and the neighbors just complained about how "LOUD" I was playing and how the floor rumbled. I literally can just hear it in the room I'm playing in.

Any suggestions? She said it rumbled above her ceiling. Would some kind of pad help this?

Axe-FX - Studio monitors.......problem solved. ;)

Is the cab directly on the ground with no casters?

Yes, get something under your cab! padding, lift it off the ground directly etc...

It's got casters on it. Like literally wasn't feeling any bass or rumble siting next to it. :loco:

Even my girlfriend agreed I was barely playing loud.

hard to tell how much bass vibration is going through the floor you know. Heck in my house, It sounds like dinosaurs are walking around, when its really just my 2 year old. no insulation...

High density rubber foam pad. Anything from the hardware store that's 1" thick or at least 3/4", placed directly under the cab. You may not be able to hear it laterally - dispersed throughout the room or apartment, but bass waves are long and travel through varied densities more so than air. So I believe your neighbor below can indeed hear it - all the low frequencies are getting absorbed by your floor/their ceiling.

Good luck

Tell her to fuck off ? Then throw a cake at her. Make sure you record and post on YouTube...

I got the $20 if steve can do the bail ....

Tell her to eat a dick if it isn't after noise ordinance hours (usually 10PM in most cities). I've got the same problem. I can't wait to get the hell out of my apartment and into a proper house, where I can let my amps really shine.

Let them know you have the volume on 1, and you will proceed to unleash the fury if they keep complaining.

Could work fine, albeit there may be simpler and more readily available remedies available (ie: rubber mat on a couple supports, or just a thickass rubber mat). But ya, this will do it. If it's just the downstairs neighbor, than it's only their ceiling (your floor) you need to worry about.

Good luck.

Try your best with acoustic treatment or raise the cab higher off the floor. I like milk crates for this...but honestly I agree with above too. Let the cops or mgmt come by and hear the mousefart levels and if it's within normal ordinance hours they will shrug and the neighbor can eat a dick. Unfortunately I believe people who hear musical instruments are more likely to complain than if they hear a tool or handiwork noise of the same level.

At the end of the day for your own sanity you may want to get a good headphone setup or rent a house instead. This is also why I dig living on the ground floor. Except of course for hearing every little detail, of every movement from above as if they're in the room

APTS SUCK ASS FOR ROCKIN'

I worked with a bass player years ago that would use a horse mat. They can be found pretty cheap. He used it every place. He said it made his entire rig perform better on a lot of stages. Some stages vibrate a lot and this can have a negative effect on the sound. It might work for this problem ....here is just one example ....

Sadly if she is on her period, the kind of pads she is using will not have any effect on her complaining about or exaggerating the level of the noise. Your best bet is to not play for 3-4 more days, then resume as usual. You should be safe for roughly the next 28 days (mark your calendar for the same time next month so you'll know when to take 4 days for silent practicing). :)
