Just played a 2019 Gibson Les Paul Classic again. Amazing!

Without getting into all of the specs, details, etc., in a nutshell, the weight, tone, and feel of the new Les Paul Classic I played a few hours ago just feels like how it used to. As soon as I picked up the guitar, it had heft and felt solid and while playing it, just sounded great and felt great for riffs and solos up to the highest parts of the neck. The new volume taper thing is great too.

I have been reading a lot about the new Les Pauls and I know they are using a plek machine on them and in my opinion, you can tell. I have an older Classic (that I was tricked into thinking was a Standard) and is a great guitar but the new one blows mine away. I have 2nd Degree Blackbelts in mine as far as pickups go so it is going to have better tone but man, great guitars.

I'm planning on getting a Standard soon but anyone buying even a Classic will not be disappointed.

I'm looking at a Classic myself. Ebony!

Thanks for posting your reaction. I've been seriously considering picking up a new standard but was wondering whether or not they've resolved their QA/QC issues. Been considering other single cut's but only an LP is an LP.

Thanks guys! Yeah, I have been pretty impressed so far with the 2019s. I'm saving up for a Standard myself but if I didn't have the money to get a Standard, I'd definitely get one of the classics!

I was in a store recently that carries a ton of Gibson stuff and I played a couple of different Classics, Traditionals, Standards, and High Performances. The Classic was a great guitar, and I agree that any buyers will likely be pleased with them. Oddly, I preferred the Traditional even over the Standard I played. I admit it wasn't the nicest Standard I played, but that Traditional was really sweet. The High Performances were a bit of a let down. It has some cool features, but they just felt like cheap guitars; they felt like they should have been the least expensive of the bunch I played, not the most expensive lol.

Man, isn't that crazy?? I think Gibson is getting a wakeup call about players and realizing that most players that get a Gibson Les Paul, want it because of the historical significance and what tone it brought to the table. All of that extra stuff they throw in there are things that most people would get in a different guitar.

They really got back on track 2018-present. I have only played the 1959's and a 1960. Great guitars. I assume teh Classics and Traditionals are great as well.
With that said my 2009 1959 is right up there but that is a real special one. There can be great examples in every year but I think your odds of getting a good one are much improved with the newer ones. I love my 2019 59.

Nice!!! Yeah man, good way of putting it with "back on track" because that is really what it feels like. I mean we all know they should have been putting out strong offerings this whole time but just goes to show how management and other things can screw up a company. Look at what CBS did to Fender back in the day. Charvel was non-existent for awhile. Happens all the time.

When I picked up the 2019 guitar, it just had that immediate "yep, this is a Les Paul" feel to it. Yes it is heavier than other guitars but that is what a Les Paul is and why I have shoulder issues. LOL
