Hey Guys,

I just signed up for the 75 minute 6 man group lesson with Paul Gilbert Jan 15 when I am out at NAMM.

http://www.paulgilbert.com/VipLessons.html

I always dug his humor and his cool Beatles cover band with Mike Portnoy.

Anyway for 3 c notes I will go get the experience and bring it back to you guys. I will also record it and post it up here (they dont allow video).

Should be some laughs and the jam part will be cool. I picked up his 20th anniversary signature "Ibenhad" model (pic below) yesterday to take with me to NAMM and get him to sign in pink for laughs.

I really am not a huge fan but it should be fun either way.

Very cool sounds like fun. I'm sure my fingers would be speechless sitting in front of Paul. :aww:

BTW nice guitar too.

hence my username initials - i am a huge gilbert fan. the guys a monster and is extremely technical - a great inspiration.

i will say that he isnt my favorite for phrasing, but his songs are extremely hard to cover unless you are on your A game.

have fun brad, i think its funny you just purchase a guitar for the occaision. man i so wish i could do something like that

cant wait for the vid!!!

 Congrats dude - I jammed with him about 10 years ago

...but taking a lessons from him is still on my "to do before I die" list

Unfortunatly I missed the chance on his last europe tour September 2008 :aww:

Very nice Brad. Looking forward to the review. I will catch you at Tone Merchants.

Gilbert plays with such style and humor that even if you're not actually into what he's playing you still like it, and when he plays something tasty it's that much better.

I am very jealous. Enjoy. Would love to hear the recording when you get it.

no need to be jealous, half the reason I did it was so I could share it with you maniacs.

Sounds like you're gonna have a great time !!

You should bring a HUGE W/D/W rig there, and show him the only thing he can learn, TONE :D

Have a great time there !

I'm listening to his Feddy Nelson album right now. Just got it. Great stuff. Lesson should be cool. Paul is so active in the music community it's unreal...between DVD's, lesson tours, Mr Big tours, solo tours, magazine articles, and his website he really seems to making the most of his ability. I really like how his website doesn't stay stagnant for very long.

I've e-mailed him a few times on "how did you play this part?" and he always has responded back.

Have fun.

That is too Cool Brad!!
Can't wait to hear how it went!
Have fun....

I think if there's anything I want for Christmas, it would be to go to that lesson

I'll be going to NAMM, but I don't know my schedule because I'm there to perform for a contest I won

Paul Gilbert is my absolute favorite guitarist and he seems like an insanely great guy. I'll probably just embarrass myself with my bad electric guitar playing

Oh and here's my PGM100, not a reissue ;)

Only logistical thing about going and taking his lesson would be taking two guitars on the plane, I don't know how I'm going to manage that because I absolutely do not want to check in a guitar :aww:

Thats awesome! He has been one of my favorites for a long time. One of the fastest, cleanest pickers I've ever heard!!

i had like a 20 minute lesson with Paul in 2006, Him and George Bellas were about to jam with Uli Roth prior to that ...lots of notes were played , George Bellas had great tone., Pauls was annoying..Uli's was super lead clean.

I'm afraid I would turn into one of Jerry's kids if I had to be in a room with PG, and had a guitar in my hand :D Thats awesome Brad, your gonna have a blast

PG is such a wicked shredder. Enjoy yourself. Not many days are gonna be like that.

Definitely ONCE IN A LIFETIME........(at least for me!  )
Chance!!

Gilbert just seems SO DAMN COOL to hang with!

That would definitely be fun Brad. PG is a standup guy and pretty down to earth. I got the chance
to attend one of his clinics and he was great. One of my fave guitarist definitely. Godd luck man.

Had a 15-20 lesson with him at the EB booth at NAMM, super cool guy and what a rock star should be

I want one of those guitars bad but I cannot come to paying the coin.
