I have a Kemper power rack inbound to land tomorrow. Will be my first adventure out of the tube realm !
Since the Peavey and EVH 5150 amps are among my favorites for high gain can you guys point me to a very good profile of one free or not.

Thanks ! ......I will follow up with my overall thoughts on the Kemper over the next few days for anyone who cares :)

5150 profiles are the most common on the exchange. Definitely cruise through that to audition the sounds before spending lots of cash on paid versions. I think Lasse or Merrow had a decent Burgera profile for free too

The one that comes with the unit is pretty freakin awesome.

The Kemper has landed, I had a chance to try this link you mentioned... So far these sound killer ! I have to try more profiles and get used to the unit but so far Im shocked, I got the powered rack version. What a great piece of gear , hands down the closest thing Ive heard to a tube amp . I went back and forth between my real 6505+ and the profiles of one through the Kemper and its built in poweramp through a 4x12 ...So close ! I think I would be happy carrying this little 15 lb piece of gear to a rehearsal than the real amp.

Might want to also look up Marco Cudan's profiles on the exchange. A little
intense on the low end, but it can be eq-ed.

Wow these are even a little better to my ears than the others, best sounding so far..... theblackstymph ones are very good also maybe a toss up.

These Marco Cudan profiles were free though, I paid a little for theblackstymph

Hmmm. Now I have to get the theblackstymph ones.

If you are looking for more of an EVH type tone, try searching for this guy's profile on the exchange:

I think he profiled the amp with a gt-75 cab, which Im not a fan of, but the profile feels legit.

Stymphalian's stuff is tits. I have the Recto, Mark and 8100 from them.

Having spent a lot more time with the Kemper I still think the Marco Cudan 6505+ profile is the best sounding to my ears out of the many 5150/6505 profiles I have downloaded. There are a bunch of commercial ones I paid for but none of them have been as good. In fact its the best high gain profile I have heard so far for metal rhythm ....... I also have tried a bunch of other amp profiles of Mesa/Bogner/ENGL/Diezel etc etc..but still nothing tops the Marco profile of the 6505+

If anyone has other favorites to recommend please post them here . Im always open to try new profiles that I might like more or just as much. I would says if anyone is looking to try a high gain profile for tight metal check out the marco patch for yourself its free on the rig exchange.

Cool, So far I like the Kemper a lot....Its the only piece of gear I have come across that sounds and responds a lot like a tube amp. The 6505+ profile I mentioned sounds soooo close to my real 6505+. Having owned most of the boutique tube amps available from Bogner,Fryette,ENGL, Diezel, Wizard, Friedman etc etc I always come back to my "inexpensive" 6505+ for metal tones. Something about that amp that translates so well in a live and recorded mix. So the fact that I can replicate that tone almost exactly with the Kemper is very impressive to me. On top of that it can do so much more, with the added built in effects it could really be the best grab and go live rig I can find.

I have the powered rack version and so far playing at home it holds up to my real tube amps, the built in poweramp seems to have enough headroom and I am playing through a 4x12 speaker with the cab sims turned off . I have not tried it yet in a live mix with drums, bass and another guitar player. I think its gonna cut through nicely but I cant say for sure. I will report back about that soon but I will say for home use so far I am blown away.
