Kemper '70 Marshall clip

No, you need to connect the Kemper directly to the amplifier you want to profile so it can send the test tones through it.

It was hard to stop playing thought mine last night. I can't wait to play more tonight but with user profiles from the Kemper forum. The stock ones sounded very good though.
 
I have an Axe Fx 2. I love your clip of the Kemper. My question is what do you do if you have no amps? Does the Kemper already come preloaded with "profiled" amps, cabinets and effects already? The Kemper website doesn't give you lots of information.

I assume you can share the "profiled" amps with other users, correct?

Here is a spreadsheet that someone made from over on the Kemper forum with all the stock profiles/amps it comes loaded with from Kemper.
 
The awesome thing I am excited for is being able to take advantage of shared profiles. Soo awesome. I think Kemper is better suited IF you one is trying to get an exact real amp tone. Where axe would be better for creating possibilities not otherwise possible

Yep...I think I would actually miss the ability to start from scratch and create something cool. The amps the Axe models never sounded much like the originals (at least to me), but were a VERY cool starting point for some mix and match :D

It all has a place :rock:

You guys would be surprised how far you can get from an amp after changing gain, EQ, sag, pick attack, etc. It's like the Kemper has just enough values to change things without having to go into minutae like transformer frequency response and such.
 
BTW Pete, very cool playing! Would you mind sharing your profile/patch you did?

I know I have a few questions though....the mic placement needs to be specific like where you would place it when you record? Does it's placement make a huge difference in the profile?

Those of us that are bit older might remember those old Maxell tape commercials....
For this we could write:

"is it real or is it Kemper"

Thanks! I think mic placement and type should affect the profiles, but I just used an SM57 and put the mic where I would if I was recording. The kemper manual recommends having your tube amp in another room so you only hear the sound of the mic when playing through the tube amp, and then adjust the mic to get the tone you want to capture.

Dude that sounds fucking good. I can't believe this amp.

I guess Line 6 will just be an effects company now? :aww:
 
Forgot to mention - guy in one of my bands works at a recording studio. Owner is a guitarist... may bring the kemper by and see if he would be interested in helping me professionally mic some of my amps/cabinets. It might be interesting to see how much of a difference is made between say an SM57 and a nicer mic or a pair of nicer microphones.

You can't profile with a boost pedal out front? Seems odd it would be restricted like that...

They mention the tube screamer specifically, seems odd to me too. However, they have several boost pedals that go in front of the amp and they sound really good IMHO.

do you have a di track by any chance? I'd like to see how close I could get to this tone on the 11R.
 
Amazing clip man! I'm still blown away at what this little gizmo seems to offer. If I see right...give this some time and you'll basically be able to pick one of these things up and have virtually any amp tone you desire: SLO, CCV, Natas etc; basically what the other modeling companies were trying to achieve but could never really nail down. Wow! I'm blown away I tell ya' :shocked:

Also, If the feel is there in a better way than the other modelers, 'Game changer' is a huge understatement.
