Kemper: Copy Paste Rig over Another Rig

I'm finally, after many mo nths, plunging into scary territory: Kemper programming.....None of the manual feels straight forward to me (no step by step directions) so the simplistic generalness of it all is actually confusing.

I want to use the browse section of the rigs to store all the presets I need. So I want to copy entire rigs and paste them over rigs I won't use. How is this done? I've read it's done easily on effects, but what about the entire rig?

I know there is a performance mode...but it's more confusing. It requires a different midi pedal programming from what I understand. I'd prefer to use the browse setting and have my presets in there and use the normal, traditional way of recalling prestes with afoot controller.

Thanks in advance!

ps, I get super great help on the Kemper forum, but I can't access it ...during biz hours....so trying to save time in case there are some Kemper experts here ;)

Not sure why you would do that - if you need to make an extra copy of a complete rig/setup, just click store once, then store as - and give it a different name. If you don't give it a different name, you'll never know which one it was...

the browse is going to change the order by how you are viewing. While in browse mode, if you click on the far left button above the display, you can view all rigs, your rigs, current author and some other options. If you click on the button next to that, it changes the sort - sort by gain, name, date, etc.

If you're wanting to assign a certain rig to a midi #, have that rig pulled up, then click system then < page > until you get to page 5/9. the bottom left knob will change the midi program change number, or the midi # assigned to that rig. then click assign in the upper right above the display.

It sounds hard when you're not looking at the kemper but it's easy. Also if you save a backup of your kemper, you can open up that backup file with a .zip utility and one of the files is a list of all your midi #s and the rigs assigned. It's pretty slick.

thnak you!

let me make sure I got it right:

so when I save as a different name, then I'll have 2
1 will be the original, the 2nd will be the same thing but with a different name

cool, I can continue to ignore the copy and past buttons ;)

Yup! One thing that gives the Kemper fits is having the same rig attached to more than one midi - so if you liked your clean and wanted it to be in several spots, the safest way is to save more than one version. Kinda a pain in the ass, but I have over 800 rigs on my Kemper with no issues.

killer
thanks so much

I don't mind at all,as long as it works, I'm happy!
