Kemper or Two Notes CAB/Preamp

I'm very seriously thinking of putting together a pedal board set up for silent playing with the CAB, Bogner Blue and Red, in the loop of my HD500 for FX. I could also take this to jams with friends in Nashville where all I had to do was plug into the FX loop of a head. So much appeal to this set up for if those pedals worked with the CAB.... still on the fence that this would work like I'd like. Pete's demo of the Red with the CAB sounded pretty good but that 335 is nothing like the guitar I play.

If it does work out really well.... replacing the HD500 with a Vintage Revolution Pedalpro would be the next step.

Only one way to find out I guess.

Love it

Hey man - you and I are in the same boat. I've ordered a Two Notes to use with the head of choice that day and rack rig...

I've been looking at the two notes as well...but just realized, the Kemper can do what the CAB does (speaker sub)
(you can load down your head and use the Kemper just for effects and just for a cab simulation...)

so the thing that really matters to me is, if I can get the exact same tone as my head in the kemper...then it's the kemper all the way...it's the head plus the two notes cab all in one (plus effects)

the thing about the two notes....it's tempting, but I'm back at square one...you still gotta buy a nice monitor or continue carrying a guitar cab around if you wanna hear your tone on stage.....(the alternative is relying on the venue's monitors and most likely not "feeling" it)

I didn't think the KPA was a load box?

And if it is, why wouldn't you have to have a monitor system with it?

I would think what you're trying to get is a profile that sounds like your head, with fx and cab sims - which would be the Kemper. If you like the profiling - which most do. And then you would leave the head at home.

I went and ordered a Two Notes Torpedo Live today. 15% off - Labor Day sale on musiciansfriend.com if anyone wants to save $150 on one.

Kemper!

Kemper is not a load box, you would still need a hotplate
just saying you could use the kemper as effects only, or as speaker impulse only
in other words if you have a kemper, you have the two notes cab pedal (it is not a load box eiter)

You would also have power-tube type emulation, bias level emulation, power sag emulation, and of-course a nice selection of effects. If you get the 600 watt Powerhead (or powered rack), you can profile your tube amp and just use the KPA for gigs. :)

true enough. But not comparable $wise.

Both are great products from what I've heard. Hoping to try a Kemper someday.

Well, lookeeee here.... What do we got here, boys?

That's right, looks like another Two Note Torpedo Live thread, whoooooooweeeeeeeee!!

Love the smell of IRs in the morning, fellas... :D

Why would someone need the Torpedo CAB for recording at home? Can't you just load impulses into your DAW and use those? I heard a great Youtube clip the other day of a guy going direct with his amp and the CAB but wondered why not just use all the IR's available inside the computer?

Because that's simply too logical.

To become a more accomplished player with gobs of forum cred, you gotta spend the bucks on peripherals.

I'm serious though. Does the CAB do something that IR's loaded into your DAW don't do?

^^^^
nope, if you are recording, no need for the two notes torpedo ever

but if you want to take those impulses with you, onto the stage, (so that you don't need a cab) then you need something like a two notes torpedo

but on youtube, I see a lot of people using it for recording, which is kind of silly when you can pay a few bucks for some redwirez or even get them free etc....

The two notes DAW sim is pretty robust and flexible. The only disadvantage would be if a persons computer had crap latency. In that case, the CAB would be a better solution (or a better computer/sound card).

Well, there is the loadbox aspect that going line out to DAW means you're still getting hammered with high SPLs. Not that this is a bad thing, but it makes recording a 100W head a bit impractical, no?

So the CAB is also a load box and then you use impulses inside of it and record it direct to your DAW?

No, the Live has a loadbox, the CAB does not.
