Know we know why the air guitar is for sale!

And I don't even like Strats! May have to learn to like this one. He only made two for a project and never to be made again. If it comes from Ken, it is bound to be good and hold value. Will go well with my KL Explorer.

Looks like a two piece body in the pic. I would think he would've used a one piece.whats he charging for these?

His guitar's are huge money but he does amazing work!

What it costs is irrelevant as there were only 2 made. It's a one piece body. Anything with the KL logo is the best money can buy.

Can anybody prove that a one-piece body has a sonic advantage over a two-piece? Or even a 3+ piece?

Nice score Steve...beautiful Strat

Didn't know it was Steve's, that's pretty cool that there's only 2 in existence. I bet it will sound great, congrats

The body is heat treated Alder. Ken told me it had cured for a year or so. PU's are Duncan Antiquities. Maple carved neck of course with a little different headstock than Fender. Everything was hand cut. Some sort of African dark rosewood board. The raised KL logo is from a silver/brass ingot he smelted and molded in his casting oven.

nice, i wanna order another guitar from ken but i cant take the wait times and i tend to lose the excitement when its longer than a year. so at some point i might buy a used KL if one pops up that i like.

yeah, i was in the right place at the right time

Would be nice to own a piece of gear that actually holds it's value!

What's the deal with Ken's wait times, or more to the point how much down money?

I could wait forever, what i don't like is being used as a bank. If you've got my money, i want my product!

Will - these were two prototypes he built. He just advertised them to sell when finished, as Ken doesn't build anything on spec. His custom orders, like the Explorers and his basses, typically come with a 2-3 wait and he only requires a modest deposit of $1000 on the Explorers, which will run you anywhere from $5500 to $8000. Much though depends on the inlay work you want, as it is the most expensive and time consuming. Depends on what you want out of the guitar. But, I can assure you there is nothing more comfortable and better to play than one of his Explorers. If you got the dough, it is worth the investment.
