Do we think there's enough interest or potential interest in keyboards here for a subforum?

I've posted about keys in the main forum, but I get a sense that few care;

not sure if it's worth the effort to consider, but having a place here to discuss keys among those interested may be worth consideration so it's not in the main forum?

Of course, bassists are going to want their own subforum, so will drummers, so it could be a slippery slope.
 
Yeah, whilst I'd really like to have a key sub-forum too, there's that slippery slope bro'.

Just thinking about it, there'd also be the issue as to whether or not we should then create a guitar sub-forum as well... and an amp one.

So it'd be guitar, amps, bass, keys and drum sub-forums... for starters.

It would attract new folks and ideas and that’s fine BUT the bigger the place, the more freaks come out trying to sell shit and rip folks off. One of the reasons rigtalk is so good is because it’s a much tighter knit group of people and in general we watch out for eachother. (For the most part). There are trolls but why let in more ? Yeah we are trolls too but in a 14 year old kind of way. Not the nefarious way.
 
Indeed brother; there'd be many considerations.

I'm not dismissing the idea out-of-hand 'though; only a fool would do that.
 
Fwiw I'm a long time guitar player who went to the dark side playing keys now and the forum idea sounds cool, but i get the counterpoint.

Hey OP maybe your keyboard thread will take off and be the place to go for all things keyboard related.

After all, do we really want bass players and drummers asking for a subforum? Jk

Thread 'The Keyboard thread'

I wanted to have keyboard discussions for those interested; having a separate subforum is a slippery slope because everyone else will want one too: bass, drums, clarinets, oboes, bassoons, etc...

Over the last several years, my keyboard gear and GAS has become even larger than my guitar gear.

My main keyboard rig consists of dedicated keys:

  • Korg Grandstage X - piano
  • Crumar Mojo Suitcase with 25-note pedals - Organ
  • Arturia AstroLab - Artuira V-Collection synths
  • Osmose - Expressive E - synth leads

I like having dedicated hardware keys for each instrument class; it's...

Yup, that's one of the disqualifying factors bro'.

Ideally you want the party to be in one location, not spread out across the neighbourhood. IMHO.
