I saw Angra play their first US show back in the early 2000’s and was blown away. Temple of Shadows is a masterpiece if anyone hasn’t heard it. It’s great Kiko made it to such a big stage but it shows the guy’s character that he stepped away for the sake of his family.

Was that at Progpower?

Yep, ProgPower III, the best metal concert/festival etc I have ever been to to this day. I was 22 and had just been forced to move down to the Atlanta area earlier in the year after my young life had been basically demolished. Blind Guardian was my favorite band, and Edguy and Gamma Ray were up there. At that time you could not have otherwise imagined seeing some of these bands stateside so it was like a big bright moment in an otherwise shitty time in my life. I think I attended every Progpower after that up until 8. I also managed to go in 2012 because I could not miss Primordial but have not been since.

I don't think I had ever heard Angra somehow prior to ProgPower, but I heard a lot of them after for sure!

Cool! Glad you enjoyed.
I may have run into you -- I was Glenns main guitar tech for that fest from the beginning until 2012, when became his stage manager.

Oh yeah, I never met you but definitely remember you from the forum on UltimateMetal and all the props Glenn gave you. That has to have been an interesting and demanding job over the years.

I don’t know how many more years Glenn will keep doing it but I hope to go at least once more. I started a family and moved up here to Dahlonega in ‘13 so things like a multi-day concert in Atlanta became impractical and low priority.

I knew this was the reason. I’m nowhere near the same league, but it’s the same reason I quit the last band I was in. I loved the guys I played with and we had great chemistry, but as I was loading my gear in car at 2:00 in the morning, I never could shake the feeling that I should’ve been at home kissing children goodnight. I do miss playing with folks and maybe I can do that sometime in the future, but I’ll never get this time with my children back. I have to be there for them while I’m able. It’s the responsibility of a good father.

It was a cool & wild ride at times. Met lots of great people and some not so nice ones over the years.
He's done at 25... This year is 23 due to 2 years of Covid...

Killer lineup this year, and he now sells single day passes.
