Being a huge Randy Rhodes fan. for my money this guy really nails the Randy Vibe.

They guy is definitely a fan and hes definitely put the time to learn the parts and nuances but to me, he falls short on the execution.. Back in the day, I wasnt a huge RR fan because I was so consumed by EVH at the time( I liked RR, saw him twice), I didnt play at the time either...

I have a new found respect for RR since we started doing Ozzy tunes in our band. Mr Crowley is on my list of tunes to learn(not for the band, just for me..)

.sounds like he pretty much nailed the lead on OTM!

That guy is good and it looks like he can do it easily. Judging from the sound quality of the clip, he has the right tone. And he looks like a friendly neighbor - no bullshit, no attitude, just a guy in his basement pulling some RR licks. I love it.

Right on! The opening tracks to two of my fav guitar albums.

As a HUGE Randy fan as well, I totally appreciate this guy’s effort. While the chops might not be quite there, the attention to detail, overall performance and tone are great.

Makes me want to get out my guitar and put Diary and Blizzard (particularly good choice for today) on.

Thanks for posting these!

OTM is my favorite Randy solo.

I'd never searched youtube looking for anyone covering that, nor have I ever seen anyone play that solo, so thanks for posting, Rare.

Its good to see a regular joe nail it, because it always sounded so "alien" to me just listening to the record.

I thought it was great.

Dude, I'm sure there are thousands of "regular joes" nailing it. They just don't post their stuff over the internet. I've been in many band wars or multiple band nights and sometimes, the guy that came in with Tedeisco guitar and Gorilla amp was the dude that was standing out of all others. I love that.

Thanks, Kage. Long time no talk. We need to catch up.

I always feel like I'm at least a few hard weeks of study and practice away from getting to the point that I could live with my renditions floating around in cyberspace ... but I love to play 'em!

I've got some stuff I need to get done this morning but my Paul is calling from the other side of the room for me and I'm blasting Ozzy (currently S.A.T.O.) as I write this.

You should hear Bill Landry of Landry Amps play RR stuff. I mean he NAILS it. I am not even into 80's metal, and he had me going  .

Corksniffer guitar, beer budget amp doing the crazy train solo :)

OTM is one of my favorite RR songs. This guy did do justice for OTM. I can tell he is a pretty big RR fan. He did an excellant job on the OTM solo.

pretty damned good. think he just looks a little less rockin wearing the guitar so high.
