Skip to 207-208 for the solo.

HOW did I not see you'd pull this one out and dust it off... still one of my Favorites, Bro. Got that Lynch type thing happening, but his note choices over these changes STILL just kill me.... Good man!!

PAT: That Don Dokken still a killer. I sat and worked many a nite back in the day tryin like hell to rip Billy Whites work on that album apart.. and let me not 4get Norum... Simply amazing, but just a tad too late to the dance... like a lot of us... lol!!

Local guy from Dayton....this album has some great stuff on it.

One of the best Scorpions' tunes ever.

Here is that guy that can't play like Gilbert with one of the best covers ever.

I dig the solo on this tune - love the tone too - kind of a shreddy Bryan Adams type of thing - seems like I remember liking this whole tape. Solo starts at 2:45

This is kinda hi-jacking your thread, but here is a nearly perfect rock guitar extended solo.

This is probably my favorite George Lynch solo but it's rarely mentioned by fans of his. The whole solo is killer but the phrase from 3:08 to 3:14 is just plain pimp.....not hard, not shreddy, just pimp.

thanks to gainfreak for this one...almost missed this band completely and they are just solid giant-esque rockers!

letekro bump
:D

anything from my hero, kurt hammett, which uses extreme amounts of wah....

forgot one of my all time favorites

Eric Johnson solo on Christopher Cross "Minstrel Gigolo"

my favorite ej solo ever and one that influenced my style heavily

I could not wait for Tones to come out after learning that one solo and flipping out over ej's tone and approach.

Cool thread Pat. I may even take part in it tomorrow when I get my new power amp installed in my studio and can listen to these examples.

Rascal Flats- Life is a Highway. Seriously :D Solo at 3:10

haven't listened to that in ages =0 the bridge after the solo is killer too

Friedman's solo on "Victory" changed the way I thought about guitar, and was responsible for a huge part of my playing while growing up, though I've strayed away from this style. Gotta get back into it!
Solo at 2:45

One of Slash's best IMO!
Starts around 2:10

One of Dime's last great leads. Soulful and really cool legato licks in the middle. Well
structured too. Good emotion and climax.
@2:55

Others:

Cantrell's Sunshine solo. Nothing flashy but tons of soul! Most of Jerry's guitar work wasn't really appreciated until the early '00s. I remember a guitar mag from the mid to late 90s. Issue was called The Dangerous 90s or something. Listed the 50 or 100 best rock/metal albums of the decade and NOT ONE Alice record listed.

"Go" by Pearl Jam. I think Dave Abbruzzese (former drummer) wrote it.
