I guess most stuff I love flew under the radar,
the whole album "Colonizing the sun", by Theory in Practice contains a killer riffs, leads and solo arsenary.

Also every solo on "Warp Zone" by Martyr are stellar,

how could i forget this tasty solo by the man in black. what a tone too!

Oh yeah! I always loved that solo. A few months ago I made an extremely serious attempt to learn it note-for-note. I have the notes down perfect, but still struggle to get that awesome stacatto sound he gets by lifting the fingers perfectly. One of my favorites. It's funny how many youtubers play it completely wrong though.

Ya, he's got the touch, and in this particular piece, it's just oooooozing 'musicality' and presence. Love it.

I suppose a whack of Zappa's stuff flew under the radar too... He was a bit too out there for mainstream, so a lot of cats never picked up on his steez. Steve Howe from YES, particularly from 'Close To The Edge', brilliant craft all the way.

Mo

Cool solo in this one at 3:30...not something you would expect given the rest of the song

you're the man Ventura

i always loved all the licks in siberian khartru... they are elite.

mentoneman,

Yes, Bach had a million more chords than Yngwie ever will, but you gotta hand it to Yngwie, he stayed Metal

I used to be a metal master, but in my search for music, I lost the metal faith.

for those metal brethren straying away from Emi C and D chords, I must warn you:
once it's lost, it's lost forever...

know of any notable tracks that should have received more recognition?

this album sorta got lost in the nirvana shuffle, and by this time don dokken was like the most hated pouty lipped drop chin look through your bangs hair metal 80s poster child, but almost every song on this one has BLAZING on it

two ripping guitarist that just throw down on every song as if to say "take that!"

if only the singing had more gonads to it...it's like racer x with air supply vocals

Agreed, the whole album kicks all kinds of arse.
I actually like the singing as well, but I gor it when it was new, and have loved it since, so I possibly just got used to it :D

yep totally agree. I learned it note for note as well a long time ago and its also a trip how gets that tone, very clean with that sweet mid range. It's the little nuances that make him such a stylist on the instrument.
