I just got back my 79JMP which I sent to Dave for the Kitchen Sink mod. Holy crap this thing is great! Here it is in a nut shell. The BE does a great Led Zep, Sabbath, AC/DC. etc. WIth the BE and the SAT switch it is 80's metal heaven, as good as any Cameron I have had or heard. Custom 45 adds a nice variation to these tones for a little flavor change. HBE is supersonic, great modern tones with over the top gain. Gives my Uberschall a run for its money in the gain department.

What everyone says is the absolute truth, very organic and open sounding in all modes which I think is what puts this over the top in my opinion. Even in the SAT Switch mode which is typically a buzzy type mod, it keeps the dynamics of the core tone more so than other similarly modded amps. Fat Switch adds the thump if you need it. Having traveled the Marshall mod road for some time, Caswell, Golub, Cameron, Voodoo, this is by far the king of the hill IMO. Thanks to Hollywood, Lugo, Ned and Art for advising me in this direction. I am thrilled with the end result, thanks Dave.

 glad you're real happy with it Tony!!! ...enjoy,bro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I WANT MY WINDSOR BACK

You guys are making me g.a.s. like CRAZYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! Thank God it's already in Dave's hands. Shouldn't be too much longer. He got it on the 19th so I will hopefully see it in two or three weeks

Congrats man. I'm saving up so I can send one of my amps.

Dave is the man, hands down.

I could have written that post myself, I feel exactly the same way. I'm glad you're digging it. Dave is a monster. A lot of modded Marshall's feel stiff and sound processed to me but Dave's sound like my favorite records. We are tracking massive guitars at the studio lately blending my '71 KS and my VH4, it is just rediculous how intense and spot on it sounds. VH to Metallica!

Enjoy.

Tonmazz, you know as much if not more than anyone as far as tone comparison goes. Having owned and played all the above listed amps and more, alot more....  You know I am only gonna tell the truth when it comes to amps. Amps are one of the few things that are worth staying true on. You are a real buddy so I had to let you in on how I felt about Dave's work once I found out 1st hand how awesome it really is. You are welcome in kind. Also Thank you and Art for being fellow sick minded individuals like myself and keeping pace with me on the damn buying and playing and trying of all the amps along the way. We are fraternity brothers............. No doubt. I want to Thank James Lugo as he was the 1st guy to sway me into giving friedman modded marshalls a chance. I want to Thank Dave Friedman for doing such KILLER work. I am still spreading the word my friend about your work. Just Like Lugo. Matt and Ned and all the others will tell anyone who would listen, Friedman modded marshalls are very unique, and versatile, and completely satisfying to play. The most player friendly modded marshall amps EVER! Glad you are happy Tonmazz.

Thanks guys I just make em like I hear it in my head. Dave

That Marsha video is like the sound in my head, but FAR BEYOND. I don't know how you do it, but I will say it again, I'm so stoaked for the mod you're doing to my amp

Very cool to hear. I can't wait to hear and play one myself. I still have my 1972 Super Lead that needs to be modded :D

Dave,

I can't tell you how awesome this thing is. No BS, so damn fun to play and amazing versatility and tone. One of these days we're going to have to get together and compare some of these amps, we arent too far away from you.

I just picked up a BE modded Randall Plexi module and it rocks. I am going to play if for a week and then send it in for the SAT switch. If I want to get closer to HBE, I just slam it with a boost.

Make sure to add the C-45 as well. Makes the module even more versatile.

Got my 79 JMP 2203 a couple days ago. Lot of fun to play with all the options. Gots that big open Marshall tone too and Daves' master volume works great. Only thing is, does your volume drop when you engage the saturation switch? I have to turn my MV up a notch to compensate.
Otherwise I can't decide if I like the HBE or BE more, they're both great.

Yes you have to bump the volume when Saturation is engaged.

Did Dave say the saturation switch makes the amp a little more scooped/modern? If so, the mid differential could possibly account for the vol change.

Yes it does but there is another reason it drops. Just turn it up 1.5 notches more and your good.

YES...the volume will drop when you activate the SATURATION switch.that's totally normal for the way that the circuit is built.just turn up the volume knob to compensate and that's all ya gotta do ;) ...when i had my cameron jose marshall amp,it had the same "volume drop" thing between the jose-low gain/jose-high gain selections as i pushed in or pulled out the MV pot.once again, totally normal...but back to my current amp, between the SAT switch tone and the BE tone and the C45 tone and the HBE tone,i'm in friggin heaven!!! simply cant decide which mod i like better and they ALL satisfy, plus they all have their own thing going on...this KS mod(w/SAT switch) IS the best modded amp that i've owned to date, period.

Ok so yours is the same way.
As far as scooped it doesn't sound too scooped to me. Not scooped like engaging the mid cut/tone shift on a DSL which also drops the volume.
Just enough so it's evil sounding. Haha, I like it.
