I'm looking at this head as a backup for my EVH 5153 and to use at smaller outdoor gigs.

I love the gain on it. It has that low-mid focus that I desire. The clean channel seems to be useful enough - even nice sounding.

So my Qs.
Will the Rev Jr 50W have enough clean headroom on the Kleen channel to keep it clean, with no hair, with low output humbuckers at gig volume with a light handed drummer?

Does the Rev Jr also do medium gain well? Basic Rock? I'm not interested in blues. just straight ahead rock gain.

Thanks

I took a Nineteen80 JR 50 to Austin last week and played un-mic'ed outdoors in an amphitheater. Just a little hairy at 3/4 volume, but I had a crappy MG 8 ohm cab to use. Methinks that w/a 4x12 Rev cab it would have had more super clean headroom.
For rock, check out the Nineteen80 Jr 50, the Rev has a more aggressive modern tone, 1980 more "classic" Marshally kinda.
I've used several of these and I definitely like the JR 50's way more than the JR 20's.
BTW the gain channel sounded FANTASTIC!!
