I found one of these for $200 at a local music store. Didn't get to plug it in but I was wondering what the gernal consensus was. Sounds pretty decent on youtube.

I had a 20w one and currently have a 50w one. The trick is to use the "sweep" control as the overall tone control then use the 3 band EQ to tailor the sound.

In the manual it says the sweep control is a mid-sweep but that isn't quite the case.

Based on the website I'd stay away from that brand.

I think he sold the brand and then bought the name back after it fizzled. I only owned one Krank amp and that was the krankenstein + which I couldn't gel with no matter what. It seemed to be built well but the tone was horrible.

Yeah, that's what happened. It's just that it looks like he put about 1 minute's effort into his site, and he's marketing to 5 year olds. I just don't trust the guy, even if the product is ok.

I had an original rev 1, I think 2003. Was an awesome head. Had a look around the internals. Was a modified sovtek mig-100h which was a jcm800 nodded for gain and 6l6.

The amp was capable of.many awesome tones however the choice for the tonestsck sweep potentiometers was not great. The amp would get SPIKEY when turning that thing up. Down at three o'clock though the amp had a low mid focus and could sound great. Swapped for s mercury transformer and like even more.

Krank got a bad name when the artist yep was posting fake reviews. Their credibility never recovered. The krankenstein sounded awful and that sealed the deal. The rest was limping along with new owners etc.

When I see the rev 1 go for $500 around whre I often.think about grabbing one. The build quality was excellent with component selection closely mirroring the SLO-100.

if it is an old one I say go.for it.
