So, I have had the Juno for a few weeks now and really dig it! Just picked up the Gemini it’s killer as well. Only one can stay. The Gemini can certainly do heavy but I’m exploring the more classic tones to see if it can pull off mid gain/ crunch tones. The Juno does this quite well. I need to spend a little time with Gemini as all the different modes are a bit overwhelming. Anyone know of a list of what each mode does? And or anyone getting decent mid-gain tones out their Gemini?

At any rate coming soon to the classifieds will be one!

Ubershall EL34 should be able to help.
Think he has had a few KSR/Rhodes amps

If you're looking for the most versatility the Gemini has the edge fore sure. Spend time flipping through all the modes. It seems complicated but the switches all apply to the closest EQ knob (Bass, Middle, Treble) boosting or cutting frequencies. On the crunch mode on the Gemini you should be able to get killer classic rock tones. The gain knobs on that mode are interactive if I recall.

Tom Prose will also have way more insight than me as he owns all of Kyle's amps and maybe even has Godfather dibs on Kyle's firstborn

Haha!

Thanks, yeah Im getting a better handle on the modes and their effect.

I have the Gemini and was thinking about adding the Juno but I really do like the Gemini and I can only justify having one.

On the crunch channel the second gain know is used for gain, second mode on the crunch with a boost is a great sound.

The description for the switches are (I was going to do it from memory but I dug out the manual):
Fat
off is Tight response and a more dry tone
Green Fat On - Looser feel, rich harmonic content
Blue Thick on - Tight response with bigger bottom thump
Cyan Both on - both of the above

Voice setting
Off Tight low end cutting mids (Wood mod on)
Green Bigger low end with cutting mids
Orange - huge low with warn highs (low mid shift in my opinion)

When I see clips of the gemini I usually see guys using the Violet mode but I prefer the white and blue (my fav), and usually I have green, green or green orange with bright depending on how I feel.

How do you feel the Juno is compared to the Gemini for more modern metal sounds, and just generally are they in the same ballpark or quite different?

Certainly give the gemini a bit of time and just spend a bit time in the different modes and it will reward you greatly.

I never understood why so many used violet either. In my opinion its one of the loosest sounding modes on the amp and it needs a boost to get tight. Ive gotten great results on white and blue boosted and unboosted.

I have the Gemini and have extended time with the Juno. I prefer the Gemini personally. Juno is killer but ultimately I didn't like it as well for lighter gain tones.

Hi I'm just wondering if you decided on one over the other?

As far as tones go. I really liked both of them. I chose the Gemini based on switching versatility. Both amps have great tones in them.
