incoming HR 50+! I understand they add bass, and are better for classic/hard rock. Versus a harder more modern response with 6l6's. Am I right? experiences?

Brands? Recommendations?

if you want to hear how a kt66 breaks up go find my classic squared video from preoier guitar and the amp show
search surreal classic squared or cm50 .. its a great tone. Love kt 66

Well I sure hope you do, your putting em in there! Haha... :D
BTW- You can fix the slave out level, and use the pot for the depth/resonance control!

they won't add bass over a decent 6L6.

what they add is mid crunch. can give an amp a more Marshally vibe.

for KT-66's the red based Chinese tubes have nice crunchy mids, and the Gold Lions sound pissed off and modern.

Dankeshoen! Just the info I seek!

GL KTs added a lot of bass and head room to my SLO. Not as tight as SED 6L6s I use in another. KTs very bluesy/classic rock mids.

IMO .....Way wrong. They will add a very noticeable amount of bottom over ANY 6L6

I've owned 9 SLO100's to date ( I owned #008 for 17 yrs!) and swapped out to KT66 in every one

But the consensus here is Soldano+KT66=win, Right?

Not necessarily. I love the SED 6L6 and 5881s. It really depends one what you are after or what else is in your system. I have 3 SLOs and each has different type power tubes.

Goin for classic hard rock. I loved em in my vintage modern. Ended up disliking the rest of the amp ; )

Intellifex in the loop, Gibson out front. 2x12's with vintage30's.

I love the KTs for the classic vibe. 5881s are a little more raw, and the 6L6s are more modern to me. I really push the KTs though as I slave. So I get a little power section break up as well.
