Anybody know how im supposed to run these? Tubes were bought from fellow forumite, he says they where originally for a dual rec. They are supposed to be used in the el34 mode, but can i use solid state rectification or would i have to select tube?

I ran JJ KT77 in my Tremoverb and I had issues with arcing. I don't know if it was the particular tubes I had or if this is a common problem.

SS vs tube rectification shouldn't matter as Mesas are all fixed bias. Pop them in and see. You definitely want to be set to "EL34" mode though.

Yup, just make sure your in EL34 mode. I've used KT77's in a dual rec with good results, and I've found JJ KT77's in general to be fairly robust as well. Tube rectification will lower the plate voltage, but I believe the JJ KT77's are rated for 800v, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Is a normal dual rec as cold as a tremoverb?
My experience with the few dual rec's I've had is that the bias on the EL34 setting is actually a lot closer to 60-70% with the EL34 / KT77 tubes I've tried vs the 6L6 setting with 6L6's. For whatever reason all the amps I've had were ice cold on the 6L6 setting. Never tried a Tremoverb, but I would assume that Mesa's biasing scheme would be similar with those.
