Anyone familiar with this guy? I bought an amp off E-BAY and the email address had his name attached to it and I knew I had heard the name thrown around before. Smokin good guitarist based on what I hear in this vid......

I know Kurt James. He is a really great local guitarist. He played in a ton of bands back in the day. If I have my chronology right, he replaced Paul Gilbert in Black Sheep when Paul left to form Racer X. He replaced Yngwie in Steeler when Yngwie left to join Alcatrazz. He played in Stryper. He played in Project Driver with Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge after they left Ozzy's band.

I have seen him play numerous times in my store here and at gigs. Smoking guitarist and really cool guy. Total gear/tone freak and he was snatching up old, stock Plexi's left and right when the rest of us were busy with our JCM800's and getting them modded.

And here is an over the top demo version of that song. I had a couple of tapes of Kurt just like this back in the day. He would take a live rehearsal tape and then overdub solos on top of it and the guy would just go off

DR MASTERMIND!!!!
Hella cool band on Shrapnel :)
And he RIPS, defo one of my favorites in the 80s

Awesome! Thanks for the info Chub.....dude can play!

Not trying to troll here or anything like that and dont get me wrong Mr. James CAN play. However, when I see/hear "Master of the Stratocaster" only one name comes to mind..... and that name is Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Many people would hear Master of the Stratocaster and think Eric Johnson, Jimi Hendrix, Ritchie Blackmore, Yngwie Malmsteen or Ulrich Roth too.
