Lack of creativity?

Honestly, I didn’t feel creative at all while writing these riffs, but once it all came together, it actually turned out pretty fun. Iny my opinion, the production makes it sound nicer too. What do you guys think? And what do you usually do when you’re not feeling the flow while riff-writing, take a break or push through until something decent comes out? Btw, this urban camo ESP M-II is still my fav 6 string axe! 🔥

Creativity comes and goes, and we have all been there, sometimes it's good just to take a little break when you feel like the song/ riff isn't quite working and practice some other stuff for a bit and when you feel inspired again go back to that riff/ song and work on it some more.

Anytime I start writing something and think “Eh, this isn’t really doing it for me” I just stick to Devin Townsend’s advice-

“Finish everything, even if you think it sucks. How do you know it sucks if it’s not finished? Maybe you thinking it sucks is what it’ll take to turn it into something you love”

Sometimes I’ll get married to the idea that a song is supposed to go a certain way, like I’ll get some riffs I’m digging that go in an order I think they should go in, but listening back isn’t doing it for me and before I’ll give up on it I’ll start chopping the arrangement up and seeing if something else can be done to make it more interesting. 90% of the time it’s just finding the right drum part to put under the riffs, or a vocal melody over the top of the riffs will make it all worth it.
