Landau/SRV/Hendrix amp

So after years and years in the hard rock/high gain realm I’d like to add a tube amp to my collection that will get me the Landau/SRV/Hendrix Strat neck pickup clean to bluesy overdrive sound. I’d like the amp to have onboard reverb and tremolo. I realize that a big part of that sound is cranking the amp up and getting the power tubes cooking, however, I play at home at low volumes so as not to disturb my family. I’ve been eyeing the Tone King Imperial Mk II and the Fender ‘64 Custom Princeton Reverb but have always liked the big full sound of a 4 x 10 combo (Super Reverb or Fender Blues DeVille). My favorite Landau tones are from The Raging Honkies albums and the ideal clean for me is the Lenny/Riviera Paradise/Little Wing/Wind Cries Mary tone. So in summary, I’m looking for a mainly clean Fender-sound that can take pedals well and has a good master volume and sounds good at low volume. Suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

These guys are well regarded for their Fender style builds. Probably a better option than anything actually made by Fender these days.
http://www.allenamps.com/index.htmlAlso check out the Suhr Hombre. May be a little too Brown sounding though, but high quality Fender -inspired build with Trem.

You may have come to the wrong place for advice though.......
97% of the guys on here are doing 80's Hair metal on up to modern thrash.
High gain mayhem seems to be the order of the day.

Clean tones ?
What...?
:hys:

I would just do a high headroom cleanish amp with some pedals.

if you have the coin, Two-Rocks kill for this application.

on more of a budget you could do a lot worse than a Mesa Lone Star.

Hendrix was a cranked to the max 1992 Superbass.
I was going to suggest the Marshall SC20 for low wattage vintage Hendrix tones, but the OP seemed stuck on Fender-ish stuff.
A mini Dirty Shirley or Pink Taco could work as well.
Hell, the Friedman master vol is so good, a regular Dirty Shirley would kill for this application and would still sound great at low volume.

The Fender DeVille Landau signature :D
That would cover the tones but my very limited experience with Fender Devilles is that they are extremely loud.

I'm a bit at a loss on this one because ime those tones are the hardest to get without cranking an amp. A BF Deluxe Reverb has it all but still quite loud. A Tweed Deluxe would get you into that tonal territory without Verb/Trem and at a much more reasonable volume but still too loud for "not disturbing the fam at home".

A Fender DRRI would be good.

If you don’t actually need tubes, the ToneMaster version sounds very good, and with the variable power you can make it crunch at TV levels

Ampeg gemini 2
Has verb and trem
Can be had cheap
Authentic 1965 tone Especially if it has the original Jensen speaker in it

I actually already have a Mini Dirty Shirley head & cab. It is a fantastic Marshall-style amp and it does indeed have a fantastic master volume, however I’m looking for a big three dimensional clean American sound that I can boost with a tube screamer/blues driver/Klone to get overdriven sounds. I’m thinking 6V6 or 6L6 tubes in an open back combo amp. Between my Bogner Ecstacy, Soldano HR25, Mesa Mark V 25 and Mini Dirty Shirley I have my gain needs met ;)

Got ya
A minty '65 Super Reverb is the best "big three dimensional clean American sound" I've ever heard personally.
It was for sale at a local shop, but had a small issue with the foot switch. They asked me to repair it, so I had it at my place for a bit.
The clean sound was great of course, but I actually dime'd it for a bit just to see what it could do........
It was F'n glorious!
Only usable in stadiums, or on a farm, but F'n glorious!
Might have been OK into an attenuator, but not sure how that would work with the 2 ohm thing.
Shoulda just told them I wasn't bringing it back
Price was reasonable too.....
Oh well......:doh::doh::doh:
