Hey guys,
I'm pretty new here but I thought I'd post an open question. I got this amp in a great trade, and overall I'm pretty happy with it so far. The only thing I would say somewhat annoys me is the way the lows respond when the amp is pushed. There somewhat sloppy and tubby. Obviously a good OD pedal would tighten it up, but I'm looking more for mod that'd permanently fix aka mod. Though of changing negative feedback values, but not sure if that'd solve it. Normally I'm a Marshall guy who plays thrashy ovedriven stuff, but the Marshall lack the overall bass oomph I need. Is there any way to get tight response whilst keeping the hugeness of the low end?? For an example of the non desirable sound I'm referring too, think master of reality era sabbath guitar tone. I'm using x pattern v30/75's.

Yes i have a good amount of experience on one.

One thing you can try is a clean boost into the high or low gain input and back the gain down on the amp to compensate - that will help a bit.

Try different preamp tubes in V2 and V3 if i recall correctly.

the GH100L and TI are both picky about speakers and cabinets. I liked it best with the H|H speakers that come with laney cabinets. With EL34's and laney cabinets i did not experience any of those characteristics and i had the amp wide open on 5-6.5 with the volume.
