Had a horrible experience with lava last year. Mark Stoddard denied me service because I criticized the cables u received. Well, he is gone because he sucked as a business owner and lava has opened communications with me and want to rectify the issue. Lava is back! They've always had great cables but their customer service sucked bad. Very happy about this.

Well let's hope the cables still kick ass. I never had any issues with him but it's good to hear about any company getting more customer friendly.

I bought a cable a few years ago from Lava and it was DOA on arrival. It took a couple tries to get them to contact me back which was a bit aggravating. Once I did hear back, they sent me a replacement right away.

I have used that cable as my main guitar to amp cable ever since.

I like the cable I got from them, but the guy charged me $17 for shipping and the label on the envolope said $5. That is a dick move and makes me not buy again. I can see asking 9 and it be 5, but 17 was a total gouge.

Nice! I just made my first batch of Tightropes and I LOVE them!

I bought from them a couple of times in the past. He seemed cool, but he couldn't measure a cab wiring harness at all lol. He sent me one that was way too short to wire up my 4x12 cab. Probably a good 4-6" too short. When I told him he asked if it was an unusually large 4x12, which it wasn't - just normal Marshall dimensions. When he sent the new one it was barely long enough. If it was 1/4-1/2" shorter it wouldn't have fit. As it was, it was a serious pain to get wired up to the jack on the cab.

Just ordered some cables. Took like a month to get them. But they're cables. And they work. So...

I've been ordering cables through Mark for about 8 years. Wired a rack and multiple boards. Every cable has worked great and shipping was always fast. I did get an email recently stating that lava is now under new ownership and it was signed by a female with the last name Stoddard. So I guess the company that Mark started is now ran by his ex wife. Odd.

from mark

"To clarify - due to a divorce settlement last week, my ex-wife has taken ownership of Lava Cable. This is VERY good thing, otherwise I would not have done it. I am no longer responsible for hosting the website so that is why it down - it's up to her to get back up again. I am no longer in the Army - I have been retired for almost five years now...

I am starting a new cable company as I did NOT sign a non-compete. We hope to up an running with 1-2 weeks...got a plan and I am executing my plan with violence as we say in the Army...

I can still be reached at mark@lavacable.com as this email was given to me as part of the settlement. I will have new company email by the end the week, but will monitor both.

Thanks to all who have supported me and my Lava team of great people."

Service from Lava was terrible. I vowed to never buy from them again. Maybe I will now

I always had good experiences with Lava Cable products and I ordered lots of custom work. Never once have I had a bad cable, nor have I had one fail. My entire rack, pedal shelf, speaker cab internal wiring and instrument cables are from Lava and they have been awesome.. Mark and Lava cable are good people, glad to hear things are starting to look up for Mark and the company. Lava cables on my pedal shelf:

Changing title to Marc Stottard still a peice of shit. Fuck lava, back to best tronics

Mark has always done right by me, and that Van de Hul guitar cable I have is unreal. I hope he can figure his shit out & move on.

I didn't have a great experience with Lava years ago. I needed a vintage wiring harness for a 4x12 cab with one input jack, and whoever selected the wiring kit kept sending me one for the mono/stereo plate. Of course it was cut the wrong length, etc. for a vintage 70's cab.

I finally had to send Mark an email with exact measurements of what I needed after getting 2 or 3 wrong harnesses. It wound up taking 3-4 weeks to get it straightened out. Needless to say my cab client was pretty upset with the delay for his cab even though the cable sounded good, finally, when it got here.

But having to explain what a single jack 4x12 needed for wiring was pretty disappointing. I don't know why that was a problem, especially after I sent pictures, and specific lengths to be cut after the first harness arrived so there would be no issues.

Maybe things have changed, but I didn't order from them again after that experience.
