I haven't bought a new cable in years. Ive wanted to try these forever and finally grabbed one. I love it. Stomps all over the monster I compared it to and I prefer it over the colossal modern classics Ive been using for years.

I bought it solely because IMO silver plated copper sounds better and for the lower than my current cable 23pf capacitance.

Interesting! I am a huge fan of the colossal I've used for years now. How do they compare? What do you like better about the Lava?

I got colossals when they were a new company. I have "modern classics" which were replaced by "sweet fats". I asked Brian, the cables I have are no longer available, he told me they were different wire.

As for liking them better, the brightness is similar but the ultramafic does something to the feel that I like. (Yes feel is partially frequency dependent).

Ill play them more and come back to the thread with a better articulation.

Thanks, looking forward too. I know such things are always hard to pu in words...

I'm on the hunt for the right solderless cable kit to wire this project up. I've looked at George L's, and Lava so far, but I'm obsessed with That Pedal Show on YouTube, and Dan swears by the Evidence Audio SIS cables. Solid center core. Makes for a great connection, but wondering if it's much less flexible that a stranded wire. Does anyone have any experience with these? I need like 50 connectors, so regardless of what I buy, it isn't going to be cheap. The last thing I want to do is drop $500 on patch cables, and make the wrong choice. Thanks !

Personally as a touring guitar tech and musician I would never use a solderless cable. I know guys use em without issue but I would never take that chance no matter how low the risk.

Solid core is great if the board will be built and then left alone. It is more prone to breakage so use common sense and youll probably be fine. If it a bard that is constanly changed id go stranded.
