With my Runt 50, it's the best $220 I've spent. It does more than add gain, it increases harmonics, (thicker, more searing lead tones for sure), and gives it more punch. I still hit the front with a boost for the same reason most do, not for more gain, just fine-tuning and tightening it up.

Is it true the Hot Mod doesn't make the 1959 sound like a MV ? I've read the HM works differently with a NVM. So the most gain is with a MV like 2203/4 ?What a journey.
 
I’m not 100% sure Rocker, but I believe a master volume is a must with this unit…
