Just got this bad boy in today!
Going in a little blind as I've never tried any of the hotmod variants, plus I don't really find any of the videos out there very good in terms of the territory it can reach. If I can get around to it this weekend I'd like to make some super amateur high gain demos of it.
Anybody here have one?

Noice; what amp are you slappin it in to?
Have a killer '85 Jcm 800 2203, really have a soft spot for the JCM 800's and just want them to get brutal without having to use multiple boosts or invasive mods haha

Same! I'll capture the sound best I can using the Zoom Q2N and upload this weekend hopefully. As long as I can get CLOSE to some Fabulous Disaster era exodus I'll be quite happy.

If that get you Fabulous Disaster tone, I’ll buy a dozen of them.

Yeah I came close a few years back with a 50w JCM800 I got from a member here a while back (after using two different up front boosts and black winter PUPs) But these days if I can help it I'd rather not boost the front end if I don't have to. Black Winters I'll probably use forever though

I have one. Really liked it a lot. Used it with a Suhr SL68 and I was happy with the tones, pushing it for more gain into 2203-ish territory. Sold the amp, so the Lynch Mod is now stored away.

So this head had an effects loop added to it at one point, and the added hardware is just in the way enough so that I can't install the Lynchmod.
The loop was disconnected by a tech but the hardware is still just sitting there.
When it comes to amps I'm just a player, so I don't know too much what I'm doing, but since it's disconnected can I just remove the big blue roadblock?

Situation rectified, I didn’t realize the base of the Lynchmod could turn, it’s in sideways but it’s in. Will try to get some clips this weekend

I just posted my demo of the hot mod Evo here, but I also have the Lynch mod. They're very similar in voicing, but I believe the Lynch mod has a little bit more Bass and has a gain pot and place of the switch on the EVO.

I currently have the Lynch installed in my JMP 2203 and that's where it will stay for the foreseeable future. Sounds fantastic. Love the adjustable gain pot as I can get it right where I want it. I can definitely add a large amount of saturation and compression to modernize the 800 just a tad. They really are a fantastic little device and I think you'll be happy with it once you get to play with it a little bit. I still run a boost out front of my 800 but that's just because I like the really tight thrash tones.

Enabling the bass switch and dialing the gain up to about 1:00 with a boost out front allows you to dial the gain back on the preamp of the 800 and allow the amp to be a little bit more open and voicing and not hit that spot where it becomes tubby. Perfect combo

I'd really like to know if Lynch even bothers using this with his amps live. I'm guessing no. A shame though because his demos of his Lynchmod sounded pretty good.

I wouldn't see why not. All depends on what amps he uses because, like a lot of us here, he never really settles on one amp or tone

I snagged this short clip with my Iphone, amp master was on 3 here and that was brutally loud and glorious in my practice space.
The Lynchmod is on max with the switch in the off position and it gives it all the gain I personally want. It definitely has a little bit of sag to it still and it reminds me of my original Peavey 5150 a lot in that they both are a little loose in the low end but you can compensate for it with a more aggressive picking hand. Plus, in my experience with playing my 5150 live a bunch it always sounds and feels tighter in a live mix.
Overall, worth every penny. I have a few shows lined up at in July and August and this is the amp I intend on bringing :m17:
