ok,i'm getting SA's in my 2011 Trad next week.i plan on getting both tone pots changed to 500k.but whats this coil tapping.how is this done?

my local shop where i bought the guitar is doin the work.they mentioned a Seymour Duncan triple threat be used for coil tapping.is this necessary?

what the heck is a triple threat.

i want the best out of my SA's and my Lester.

Duncan Triple Shot....it's a pickup ring that can split coils, series/parallel, and choose which coil to split, very cool.

I just took out the BK Painkiller in my Les Paul standard today and popped in a Suhr Aldrich.
I like it better, but I find I a bit darker, and thick. Not as articulate, but more aggressive.
I like it better for this particular Les Paul, as it has always sounded thin until now.

I may have to try taking out th tone from the path to see it that livens it up a bit tho. Much darker and definitely not as clear as my Motor City Warcry. But yet, I still like it.

The thing with the nailbomb is it is very height sensitive.

like all BKP's, by the way

some models, like the holy diver and black dog, sound better very close to the strings
the nailbombs sounded much better at medium height
and a millimeter makes a ton of difference

Droppin off my LP trad next thursday to get the Aldrich pups put in.along with tje 500k pot and the SD triple shot.

I just bought a set for my Standard Plus. I'm sure they're going to sound great.
