I don't like it on the gold top, but the others I like it on.

Here's how I like mine:

Black - On
Gold - Off

I like to keep it on with Goldtops, either way is cool on a Custom.

On GTs, I prefer the classic look with them on. It really depends on others. If you have a killer top, it might look cool off. I guess I just prefer the classic completed look of the pickguard on the guitar.

I prefer it on myself. I do like it off on some Customs but on more time than not.

I thought for sure I'd rip off the gold covers and pickguard off of the 57 RI I recently picked up but I'm liking the look as is right now. I still may do it but on the fence.

This poll is broken. Where is the "It depends on the model" option?

Agreed.

I would vote off on the gold top and on and the black custom.

Off!

What the heck are they guarding anyway? If they're meant to guard the finish so that it looks better...well, you can't really see the finish anyway because the darn pickguard is... um...guarding it.

I like 'em off. Occasionally, I'll see one on, and think it's cool, but mostly off.

VOS Standards and Customs and maybe a few Gibson USA Traditionals ON, rest off..

On for black beauty les pauls and goldtops, but off for a sunburst!

I always prefer on, even with an awesome top. Just my personal preference though.
