As a cabinet-maker by trade many years ago, but still have a shop and work on guitars. I can settle this for everyone. It is maple but not flame maple or tiger maple. this top is made out of curly maple. Don't get confused with birds-eye. It does look a little like lace wood but lace wood has shorter flecks. This is Curly Maple.

Agree, it must have been enhanced or something. having flame ride out to the edge is not normal, but damn that guitar looks KILLER.

What are you talking about?? There are a gazillian LPs out there that have complete coverage as far as flame goes. That guitars flame is not enhanced. That's natural.

Its a beautiful guitar, I am not saying its not.

I have some les pauls where the flame has been enhanced. They did this in 2002 / 2003. Not sure what the proper name is, but that guitar looks like its been treated like the 02 / 03's. So, thats what I'm talking about.

No they didn't, the last time Gibson enhanced any tops, was in '99, and it was only ever done on the R9's.

That guitar, hasn't had any enhancements, it's just a damn nice looking Les Paul.
