I am really intrigued by this company.

Spoke with dave and he seems really nice too.

I am interested in the K2.

what differentiates that amp from something like a titan, ubershcall, splawn nitro, etc?

thanks!

no one has one? i'm curious for some owners thoughts on them too. i've been thinking of selling my dual recto and a K88 or K2 is on my list of possible replacements along with a splawn super comp or a good old 5150/6505.

I think there is only 2 members here with Baron amps..
That is all I have noticed in the past few months anyways..

well, i was hoping they might chime in.

hard to get opinions on amps with limited production.

yes they are a great value, but 15-1700 bucks is still a big chunk of change on a product whose resale would be really low just for the fact that they are relatively unknown.

The forum search does provide 5 pages of posts directly from the owners of these amps..

I don't flip gear so I do not give a shit about resale value..

I have custom one on the way

-Single (OD) Channel
-Added gain/compression (like it needed that from stock K2 :D )
-Added Mid Sweep Pot
-Added Power Section Voice Control Pot (Saggy to tight and anywhere in between)

I should have it next week. I'll post a review.

So does that replace the mid select switch and the toggle for the power section toggles?

Quit for 6-7 years, you sir have a sickness

My amps still do what I need them to do,..
The Barons seem to be doing the low mid frequency tone I like very well,
Plus the KT88 flavor I have always wanted to try..

Yessir.

that is cool.

i was just talking to him the other day about something really similiar.

how much extra gain are you getting?

the boost switch is supposed to ad 3db

are you getting even more?

i wonder how he can get all that gain

i only see 4 preamp tubes.

one is for the phase inverter.

that leaves three for the pre unless one is used for the loop which i think doesnt require one because it is not tube buffered.

yes you must.

much more clips!

i see in your sig that you have a 5150 II.

how close does your k2 sound to that?

can the k2 get as much saturation and gain as that?

i would like to hear a few clips with some solo playing, i already heard a lot of clips with great and grinding rhythm tones.

Even a clip of that song you posted already without the other instruments would work for me..

I told him to make 11-12 o clock on the gain with my amp sound and feel like 2 o clock-ish on the stock. And yeah, it still has the +3dB gain switch on top of that. As for getting more gain, it's very simple and not very dependent that heavily on the number of gain stages (which there are 6 of in this amp..3 tubes, 2 triodes per tube...) as much as the operating conditions and design of each stage, such as voltages, cathode resistor value, etc. Honestly, I don't really feel the need for the added gain mod ever (but i figured it cant hurt...to an extent) I play stuff along the lines of SYL and Gojira, and the stock has enough saturation and gain for either of those stock.

I really dig what I am hear in these clips!
Sounds kick ass!!

cool

i would like to hear some clips of the amp in your style of music when you get it!

i just fired off a bunch of question to dave!

now we're talkin' i didn't know he'd do a single channel K2/K88. that's why i was also looking at the splawn super comp since i don't need a clean channel, i have other amps for that i just want a high gain monster and your K2 SE is right up my alley.
