gone way too soon....he's the reason I started playing guitar.
man do I miss him..

The reason for me too. Should never have got in that plane...

-anyone remember OZZY on Letterman shortly after the accident? Such an odd thing, didn't someone in the tour bus die too?

The band's hair dresser was in the plane too. I'm sure Ozzy had a huge dept to the record company (Sharon's wonderful father) for the recording sessions so he had to continue with PR and touring after Randy's or he would have gone broke.

He's the ultimate. We should do a forum RR tribute over a backing track or something.

Randy was THE guy who made me want to improve my playing, technique, theory and learn his stuff. He also was responsible for me geting into Classical music.

His playing still can give me goosebumps..the Afterhours stuff is awesome. I was luckt to see him in Feb 82, a few weeks before the accident.

I still remember the day my Dad came into my room to tell me about the crash..... Bummer :(

I never got to see him live, but when I was getting started playing as a kid, the Tribute album was just out and was part of a short list of albums that I studied note for note and a big part of my "education" for how to really play (had a wall length poster of the Tribute album cover on my bedroom door during high school). I later had a buddy who was a Randy fanatic and had every bootleg recording you could find of him...I was amazed at how great he sounded live on so many nights.

I had that experience years later when I was a sophomore in high school, except it was my Mom waking me up to tell me Cliff Burton had died.

Definitely gone too soon. The reason I really got serious about guitar after screwing around for a few years.

Saw him and so glad I did on Dec 30th 1981 in SF , first US date of the DOAM tour

I do not think anyone forgets Randy Rhoads!!! I was crushed when he passed. I can remember the day vividly. I am fortunate to have seen him on the Diary tour in Detroit at Cobo Hall on February 8, 1982. He was one of the if not best ever IMO!!! He is definitely missed.

same show for me too!

-the thing about RR is he's hard to put into perspective, he changed the landscape of metal, he was one of the first to bring classical guitar phrasing to metal-(except, ironically, TONY IOMMI, every SABBATH album has little, dark, classical instrumental's like "ORCHID" )- now its almost main stream..... Saw him on the BLIZZARD OF OZZ tour, wish I was cool enough that i could say I knew who he was,.... hadn't a clue!!, his tone always seems to take a hit, but I'll bet anyone here that was lucky enough to see/hear Randy will know exactly what i mean when i say his tone was incredibly fierce, Powerful, you felt his passion, felt it like a razor blade to your jugular vein,

-R.I.P.-R.R.

-after reading an interview with Randy, he mentioned some classical guitarist that he was into, I bought some Carl Orff & Alfred Wagner cassette tapes, thinking I could cash in on his tone/style, gotta tell ya, there's some deep, dark, bad ass classical guitarist's out there, check some out.

Randy will always be one of my favorites. God only knows what he would have done. RR > EVH :D
