Which would you rather have?

Let's let the people decide.

I think you are confused in that you think people give a fuck. Consensus of a crowd means jack shit in something so subjective as amp preference. Nothing will be settled but nice try.

Oh wait I'm wrong. You give a fuck about consensus.

Wow, I didn't know you had it out for me too Ejecta...nice to see that though.

Have it out for you? LOL! Oh man this thread is getting even wierder... I don't "have it out" for anyone.

I think you are taking this way too personally. IMHO it's a silly poll. I've owned two Herbert's and a VH4. I now own a 5153 that I've had for a good while. I'd take the 5153 all day long over any Diezel that I had. Two heads out of the three had issues and had to be returned to be fixed. On top of the I found the tone to be overly compressed and sterile. See it's all subjective. I dont give a shit what the consensus of this forum is on my personal choices in amps.

is your 5153 a 50w? because thats what this poll is about actually.

Yes and I still would prefer it over a 100watt Diezel. Higher watts mainly effects headroom with some effect on the bottom end. With modern amps and depth knobs etc the extra bass you get in higher watts isn't as much of a factor in my experience. So the watts is a non point iMHO and not sure how this poll is even presented as such .

your are more than entitled to your opinion. I would have settled for a click on the poll voting button , but the watts is only presented because DICKPOSE said his 50W EVH shits all over the VH4 , which doesn't come in a 50 watt. so I kept it on track to settle the debate :)
Maybe to his ears it does shit all over it. Ive not heard or played a Diezel yet that sounded good to me. I would seriously hate to have to play a gig with one. The 5153 would be my choice to plug into, if both were available on the backline. At the end of the day we should all be playing the amp that moves us, and inspires us to play more, and better. If Diezel does that for you, then you have the right amp. Opinions on a bbs won't change that.

With all this talk on sound the one thing lost in translation is the feel of an amp as well. Certain players like a certain type of feel in an amp. I like the feel of a VH4. It doesn't hide mistakes. I also love the Uberschall which has much more sag than a VH4. The Herbert has more sag than a VH4 and is incredibly forgiving in comparison to the VH4 but I like it much less. For high, saturated gain tones I prefer the Uber. We all like certain things for certain reasons. It is foolish to think somebody is wrong for liking what they like.

At least this baboon knows who hand built my Diezels ..not so sure about the EVH whoever it it is they should teach Friedman ,and Peter Diezel how to build an amp acording to you..

Amps forget anything forward list furthermore initiation.

Most retarded stuff in this thread ever! I am willing to bet most dissing the Diezel have never even played one at volume. "Hate to have to play a gig with one"? Yeah I bet, it would show how much your playing sucks.

Open your mind to the possibility that maybe, just maybe, some (a) can afford diezel (or maybe like me has owned nearly every fucking amp they've made), (b) have played them lots and lots, and (c) still managed not to cream our tighty whities.

It's ok. really. you have an awesome amp. you really, really do.

I really don't care if they're hand built or not. If they work they work. Personally only problem I've ever had with an EVH is a bad preamp tube once.

Seem interesting that it's American, British, Germans, and Canadians are a-ok (although I have heard a few things about Engl's build quality - surely a mistake), but we just can't trust those Mexicans or Chinese. :bleh:

I've had both and I didn't find much VH4 in the Fokker personally, although some would probably disagree. I thought Fokker channel 2 most resembled Hagen channel 3.

Who makes fractal lol and does anyone really trust thier carvin power amp hahahahaha jk But there are plenty of people out there using el cheapo amps night in and night out in bars with questionable hygiene all over America and people listen to those bands just as much as people with nicer equipment lol

Relax man, I didn't diss Diezel, I said they were not for me. None of the Diezels Ive played were suited for my style, or sounded right for my style, so yeah, I would hate to know that it was my only choice to play a gig with, but if it were, I would make due with it.
No need to be a douche bag and hurl personal insults because your amp of choice happens to be one that doesn't work for everyone.Where to you draw the line on that? Should we all run out and get the same guitar, strings, picks, speakers, and pedals that you use? Should I toss everything Ive learned in my 40 years of playing, and buying gear, and consult with you before my next purchase?

Is that possible? Does the Deep function not typically affect the power section specifically in most designs, which would ultimately affect every channel?

Sorry. No dog in this.

It's just gear.

Continue.

At the end of the day, we have to acknowledge that tone is as subjective as one's own taste buds. While the OP has acknowlegded this, I still can't believe this is ongoing. Who cares what emphasis is put on the quality of the components utilized if they don't amount to a product you simply gel with? Small wonder Papa Diezel or Peavy / Fender haven't chimed in. They understand this concept and they're fully aware that while their amps deliver, their product isn't for everyone. Simple as that. Papa Diezel might simply say something to the effect of "Peace, gentlemen."

I don't understand people who eat Kraft mother fuck'n Singles. But it takes all kinds to make a world, doesn't it.

Play your guitars, gentlemen. Play them to your style, your sound and to your price point.
